= One of the reasons I am not looking forward to Wednesday.
Yes… I was inspired by Eileen’s post when I saw it on Friday. It just sounded like so much fun! So, since we had plenty of Easter candy left, and the boys were gone for the day, the girls and I decided to do some baking! They ran to grab their aprons and hats as I pulled out a Costco sized box of cookie mix that had been sitting in the cupboard since Christmas. (Most of my Christmas baking plans fell through since we were so sick at Christmas, and I am still trying to figure out what to do with all those baking supplies including 5 bags of powdered sugar!)
You could really use whatever cookie recipe that you like, and Eileen posted a very simple one, but this one worked for us. The girls had fun mixing the batter.
Instead of making normal cookies, we decided to try out my mini muffin pan instead. The girls took turns using both hands to squeeze the dough out of a small scoop and into the greased pan.
The cookie’s then headed into the oven, pre-heated to 350 degrees for about 6-8 minutes.
While the cookies were in the oven, we unwrapped the candy, one for each cookie. Twinkle Toes went with Miniature Snickers and Chiquita choose the Lemon Creme Hershey Kisses. As soon as the cookies came into the oven they got busy pressing the candies into the center of each. The heat from the cookies did the rest!
On the next batch, I decided to go with one of my favorite Easter candies, the Cadbury Mini-Easter Eggs.
We finished up by making a few random ones as well… My favorite was the one made with a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup… It was too good! Unfortunately, or rather, It was a GOOD THING that there were only 2 left from Easter. I have a weakness for both Cadbury Egg’s and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!
So, what have you been doing with all that Easter candy?
I was very good this year and didn;t buy any! I know MIL was going to, so I thought I better skip it. So we haven’t had a ton of stuff around… of course MIL did give us a box of Oreos, one of my great weaknesses.
Oh, I love this idea! I didn’t even know Hershey had a lemon creme kiss–that sounds downright dangerous. 🙂
Love the kids’ baking attire–my 4yo son loves to put on his chef outfit when we bake, too! (But first he has to take off his fire gear…)
Warmly,
Eileen
mmmm yum, they look sooo good! I was planning to make a cake this weekend, but I don’t know where the time went too!
The girls look like they had a great time 😉
Happy Divine Mercy Sunday!
Those look much more tempting than the Easter candy!! Yum!
Little by little, they are forgetting to ask for candy for dessert after breakfast, lunch and supper! Pretty soon, it will all disappear off with Daddy to work!
We still have Valentine candy up in the cupboard. Of course there is no chocolate Valentine candy left, not sure why 🙂
YUMM!!!
Wishing you didn’t live so far away…
We were GOOD this year and bought NO Easter candy,(just books and fun school resources for the baskets.) Although, after seeing your baking, maybe I should have had leftover candy. My question.. How many of you had egg salad sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner ALL week long? Gotta love ’em. lol
Amy~ Hubby LOVES oreos too… I only like them soaked in milk 🙂
Eileen~ The Lemon Creme Kisses ARE Dangerous! Keep them FAR away, if you don’t want to eat them 😉
Michele ~ The girls DID have a great time! I missed being able to go to Mass with the boys, but it was so nice to have a day to spend with my girls! Also, this weekend really has flown–and I still have SO MUCH left to do–including plans to email you back soon! 🙂
Meg ~ I KNOW!! I wish you all didn’t live so far away too! We made WAY too many!! We have given some away, but I keep snacking on them, and this is BAD!
Jamie ~ I think they would be even MORE tempting if I would have made some with brownie batter… Chocolates in Chocolate! What do you think? 🙂
Marci~ Our eggs actually didn’t last too long. We only made a few dozen, and then sent a dozen home with my sisters, so when you divide 24 by the 6 of us that would eat them, they don’t last that long! 🙂
See you all soon, and thanks for all the comments!
YUM!!! thpse look so good! You are so creative jess!
Your girls are adorable! You are way too crafty for me. I’m very impressed! (and jealous)
what a fun idea!!
