What a busy weekend!!! It is so nice to be back home again, safe and sound. I just love arriving home again after a trip… It makes me realize just how much I really do like being home, and being with my kids! I missed them SO MUCH!!
It is also nice to be able to get back online! 😉 I have a lot of catching up to do… There are over 325 new blog posts in my Google Reader — a good indication that I may need to scale back in this area! I also have many emails to respond to… I’m Sorry! I will try and get back to you all soon. In addition, I was so excited to see the new posts over at Catholic Cuisine–their have been some GREAT suggestions and ideas!
Anyways, the Northwest Catholic Family Education Conference was wonderful, and totally worth the long drive. The talks were very inspiring. I loved browsing through–and spending too much money on!–all the wonderful supplies that the vendors had on display. My hour long private consultation with Laura Berquist was perfect, and just what I have been needing! I also got to see a dear friend, and meet a couple others that I have gotten to know through blogging! And, I got to visit some relatives that live in the Seattle area! It was such fun!
I even came home to a clean house!!! My hubby cleaned the bathrooms, vacuumed and mopped the floors, put away laundry, cleaned the kids rooms, and did the dishes! I am so impressed and thankful! He did say that our girls are like a couple Tasmanian devils. I could have told him that!
However, I don’t have even one picture to share with you! Can you believe it? I still can’t! Friday morning, my car was broken into, the driver side rear window was shattered, and my cameras (my Canon Digital Rebel and my Canon 35mm Rebel), among other things, were stolen!
I was so disappointed, but, it really could have been much worse. Thank you all for your prayers for my safe travels, I am sure they helped!
I did hesitate when I was parking the car at the hotel. The parking lot was full and my only option was at the end of a row, in the corner of the parking lot… Then, since we were only going to be there over night, I didn’t bring everything into the hotel. I almost went back down late that night to get my cameras, but I didn’t — I was too scared!! I’m actually glad that I didn’t, since I don’t know what time the bad guys (as my kids are calling them) were there… I wouldn’t have wanted to run into them, especially since they stole a loaded gun from a car near mine as well! (That poor old man also had his GPS and a small statue of Mary stolen!)
Thankfully, I had just downloaded my pictures to the computer from my memory cards, right before I left, so I only lost a couple pictures! And, even though I am slightly too attached to my cameras, they are replaceable. I’m just bummed that our deductible (for the items stolen) is $1000! sniff…sniff…
Well… I have lots to do today. I need to contact the police officer with an itemized list, and call the insurance company back, unpack, and get the kids schooling. Hopefully sometime later today I can get back online and catch up with you all!
Ok, first so I don’t forget, your hubby is a saint!
2nd, I am SO glad your angels prompted you to not go at night to retrieve your cameras!! Wow! That is too bad, I was only without my camera last week for 4 days and it was awful, and my camera. How funny…I think if I were standed on a deserted island and could bring 2 things, (not people) it would be my rosary and my camera! 🙂
Welcome home Jessica, I missed you!!
So sorry to hear about your cameras. Bad guys are mean. Glad you are home safe and sound.
Oh I’m so glad you weren’t near the car when it happened, I’m sorry you lost your cameras. Enjoy your time settling back in and so glad to have you back 🙂
Welcome back. I know I would feel sick if I lost my camera, silly huh? Sorry to hear about yours.
BTW, wanted to invite you to join me. For Our Lady’s month I hope to spend most of my blogging May, blogging about Our Blessed Mother. Perhaps you’d also like to post images, quotes, and devotions if you feel so inspired?
Oh, Jessica! That is so terrible! I am so sorry your stuff was stolen! I know how much your camera meant to you 🙁 I am so glad you listened to your guardian angels and didn’t go down there to get them!
I missed you and it is nice to hear you had a great time otherwise. Sounds like your hubby did a great job holding down the fort for you!
God Bless!
It was so nice to finally meet you. As you know, I am very sorry about your car and your cameras that were stolen.
I hope that you are able to visit the Seattle area again in the future and that our friendship will continue to grow.
Oh Jessica!! I am so sorry about your car and cameras! I just hate it when someone breaks into my car (it has happened to me twice in my long life, lol, once when i was in labor with Thorn!!), makes my car feel dirty!
I am so glad that you got to go though. I also wanted to tell you that I saw your Hubby and kids at mass and he even did the girls hair! I was very impressed! It was very sweet, they were all kneeling, real close to dad, and he was whispering something to them. Just precious!!
After having my purse stolen out of my car in college I never ever leave anything in the car. Always in the trunk or with me. Sad to say the paper in our area is filled with car break-ins. Sorry to hear about your camera loss. Us gals do get attached to them. You have a very bright outlook on the situation. Glad to hear you are home safe and sound with your family.
Jessica, I didn’t meet you at the conference but I was there for a few hours on Sat. What terrible news about your car! I am so sorry to hear that. And who can believe that someone’s Mary statue was stollen. Ugh…
Oh, how horrible (about the cameras)! But how sweet of your hubby to have the house in order, he knew how much you needed a break! I’m glad you’re back safe and sound.
I can only imagine!!! What a terrible time to have your cameras stolen–while on vacation! I’m sure there were many photo ops and blog worthy moments. Ugh!
Glad you had fun.
