Flower Pot Cupcakes

I have never had much luck with flower pots, or growing any flowers for that matter. Although, admittedly, I have never really put very much effort into trying… Having a yard full of deer doesn’t help–though, it really is just an excuse, since they would probably stay off of my porch, although the wild animals around here have been getting pretty daring… However, today we had some friends over, and the kids made some darling Flower Pot Cupcakes. Now, I am sure these won’t survive either, but they are sure cute, and yummy too!

These are the three I made–you can see the kids below.

Flower Pot Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cake mix, any flavor
  • Ingredients needed to make cake mix
  • 24 pink, green and brown ice cream cones
  • 1 tub chocolate frosting
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • green food coloring
  • 24 lollipop sticks
  • 24 Golden Oreo’s
  • 1 tub white frosting
  • assorted small candies: we used Mini M&M’s & Mike & Ike’s
  • Gummy Worms (optional)

Directions :

Prepare the cake mix as directed on the package. Stand up the ice cream cones in muffin tins. Fill cones 1/2 full with batter. Bake as directed. Cool.

Frost the cupcakes with the chocolate frosting.

Tint coconut with approx 10 drops of green food coloring. Mix well. Sprinkle on top of the frosted cupcakes.

Open up the Oreo, insert a lollipop stick between the halves of each cookie, add some white frosting and then put the cookie back together.

Then put a coat of white frosting all over the front and sides of the cookie. Put the cookie frosted side up on a plate, decorate with candies (to create the petals of flowers) and put them into the freezer until the frosting gets hard.

Take the lollipops from the freezer and frost the back. Push the lollipop stick into the center of the cupcake.

Yum!!!

Ok, we HAVE to make these…in May when we can actually see green things! How fun!! They are so pretty, what a great party thing too! You did not show their faces after eating though? I’m sure it was cute! Do you think we could use regular oreos? Or is that too much chocolate? No, I’ll answer it myself, never too much chocolate.

It is useful to try everything in practise anyway and I like that here it's always possible to find something new. 🙂

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
