Outside my Window… it is HOT!!! (and will be getting hotter as the week goes on.)
I am thankful for… my hard working hubby who spent all day Saturday fixing our sprinklers and burying the pipes to make it easier for me to water the grass each day!
From the kitchen…there will NOT be any “friendship” bread. Seriously, is this some kind of mean joke? My hubby brought home a bag of the stuff from a co-worker, and since last week I have been following the directions. This morning I woke up to find that it had exploded all over the counter top, and the fermenting batter oozed into EVERYTHING! I just finished picking it out of the bottom of my coffee maker, and I still don’t think I got it all out.
I am creating… a “Summer Plan” to implement with my children. We are in desperate need of a little structure!
I am going… to deep clean the kids bedrooms.
I am wearing… a pink tee and black gauchos.
I am reading… Connecting with History: Volume One in preparation for next year.
I am hoping… that we will be able to get together with some friends a few more times (at least!) while they are in town visiting.
I am hearing…the air conditioning running, the girls playing with puzzles, and the boys talking about Reepicheep and Prince Caspian. (We just finished listening to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.)
Around the house… I need to continue decluttering and organizing. I am finding that this is an endless job–though very rewarding.
One of my favorite things… is getting new books in the mail!
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…
Hubby & I will be going to Couples Bunco tomorrow night. This time it will be at my Dad & Mom’s home!
I am also hoping to finish planning out Captain’s 8th birthday party (which is now in less than 2 weeks), and try to figure out just how to pull it off on a very limited budget. If any one has any ideas–we are going for an “army” theme this year–I would LOVE to hear them!! So far I am thinking of having Basic Training (obstacle course) and a Grenade Toss (water balloons).
Also, if I have a chance, I am hoping to finish up blogging about our trip to Nebraska. Next up, the Ordination and First Mass!

I hope you all have a simply wonderful week!
We need a little more stucture around here during the summer also. I also LOVE getting a new book. Thanks for a peek into your daybook.
oh, so sorry about your batter! that stinks, cause it’s soooo good! love your picture too :o)
Love the daybook entries. It’s a cute idea!☺
Such a great pic of all the girls!
I had an army b-day party for my boy when he was 4.
I went to the army /navy shop in town. I got canteens for the drinks instead of cups, used some bulky, heavy army supply for balloon weights (not sure what it was) and camo-bandana’s tied up with goodies in them for the gift bags. I used the little green army guys on the cake too. We all wore cheap camo shirts. I made the invitations with 2 scrapbook paper prints on them, one camo and one that resembled a map. On the invitation I worded it with…”wanted, you are drafted and should report to ______ for boot camp at ________. For a game you can get some large army gloves and something small (like nuts and bolts) and take turns timing the kids on how fast they can pick the small objects up with those big bulky gloves on.
I’ll send you pics when I get the chance if you want.
Hope these are some good ideas for you! Have fun!
I love this picture–the difference of hair color is just great! Cute stuff.
