   Thank God for more holy priests who will offer the Traditional Latin Mass.
   Do you think the FSSP will have their own Bishop anytime soon?.

   They are in existence for twenty years now.As a canonically erected group they often have great difficulty in arranging old rite confirmations and ordinations. Sometimes the bishops are not fully traditional.

   How blessed you were to be there!

   My mom said the FSSP are restricted and are being forced to say but refusing to say the English Mass. Is this true? Of course it is a cut on us “New Mass People” as she calls us.

   The FSSP have the charism of offering the Mass according to the Missal of 1962 and administering the sacraments in the Traditional manner.

   However, priests of the FSSP have celebrated the New Mass. Catholics should talk it over with the then liberal Superior General Father Devillers.

   He would know about the “sixteen” who left the FSSP to celebrate the Novus Ordo.Father Devillers was replaced in 2006 by Father Berg.

   The FSSP are frequently asked to concelebrate the Chrism Mass with their Diocesan Bishop.

   I would suggest pray for the FSSP and for priests and bishops. God willing the FSSP stay true to the Traditional Mass.

   It is telling though after twenty years that they have no Bishop. Hopefully they get a few Bishops soon.

   Father Devillers, unlike Father Bisig and now Father Berg was appointed Superior General by Rome and not by the members of the Fraternity.

   He was considered a neutral candidate in regard to the FSSP offering the New Rite.Some might argue a safe pair of hands.

   Thank you for the comments! I just got home from a busy day in town and am just getting back online.

   Credo~ I do not know if they will have their own Bishops anytime soon… But, that would be wonderful, wouldn’t it?! I know they are thankful to have Bishop Bruskewitz in Nebraska. He was the one that presided over the last two ordinations we attended.

   Jamie ~ Yes, it truly was a blessing to be able to be there!

   It IS a beautiful Mass, and I wish we had it available in our area. With the Moto Proprio, we are hoping that this will be a possibility in the not too distant future, however, the priests in our area are not very open to the idea. Prayer can work miracles though, so we are praying hard! 🙂

   I think Credo did a better job of answering your question than I could… (Thank you Credo!) As far as I know, my brother-in-laws (all 3 of them) are ONLY allowed to say the Mass of 1962. I have not heard of them being “forced” to say the Norvus Ordo Mass, but I do know that they can not, and would not. I will have to ask my hubby to comment on this, as he would know more than I.

   There is just something about priests lying protrate at the foot of the cross that just makes me…

   Swell with pride? A little.
   Tear up? Usually.
   Emotionally overwhelming? Absolutely!

   Jessica, you took some incredible photos! Thank you for sharing them. Congratulations once again to your brother-in-law.

   Also, Fr. Eric Flood is the new Superior General of the FSSP. The FSSP should be in the Archdiocese of Seattle before the end of 2008, thanks to Fr. Berg, Fr. Flood, and Archbishop Brunett. Sometimes, I think that I should pray that Jessica and her family move to my neck of the woods. 🙂

   Christine ~ You are too sweet! It would be nice to live near you and your family as well. I am sure we will be up to visit though, especially now that Regina is moving your way. YOU ARE SO BLESSED to have the Fraternity coming to your diocese! That is SUCH wonderful news!

    OH! I meant to add, that only 3 or 4 of those pictures were taken by my husband. The rest were given to us by my brother-in-law (along with tons of other beautiful photos).

    I wish I could take credit for them, but I was holding a baby during the ordination, and not a camera. :0)

    All of the cities in the PNW are in dire need of some reform. Seattle, WA is a good place to start. WA is now trying to legalize euthanasia alongside OR.

    We got to meet both the Superior General Very Rev. John Berg and the N. American Dist. Superior, Fr. Eric Flood. They are both very holy men. Fr. Eric Flood has been writing great addresses in their monthly newsletter. All husbands should read the June 2008 address to fathers.     Oops, that should have read District Superior. I don’t mean to diverge, but since physician assisted suicide was mentioned, I want to encourage anyone who is reading these comments to visit http://www.noassistedsuicide.com and if possible make a donation to this organization which is trying to educate the public in Washington so that I-1000 does not pass in November.

    I read in one of your comments section that you have a sister moving to Okinawa?

    If so, please let me know … I’d love to welcome her to the island. We’ve been here a year now and plan to be here until 2010.

    I will definitely let my sister know! She will be coming out here to visit next month, and I am pretty sure they will be heading to Japan in April, though I am not positive. So it is a little ways off, but not too far! I think it would be so interesting to live in another country for awhile! However, I am going to miss them SO MUCH!!! I really need to convince her to start a blog 🙂
