The Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ Aug 12th

FOR TODAY

Outside my Window… it is hot, but the skies are nice and blue!! The forecast for the rest of the week is “Patchy Smoke.” :S

I am thinking… about everything that I would like to get done in the next couple weeks before we start school… There is so much to do, and so little time!

I am thankful… for hubby’s overtime! On Saturday I spent the day at Les Schwab getting new brakes, rotors and tires on my mini-van. Thankfully hubby spent the day working overtime as an engine boss… God always provides, doesn’t He?

From the kitchen… what kitchen?

I am creating…a HUGE desire to just STAY HOME!! I have had to be out every day for the last 2 weeks for one reason or another, and I am TIRED!

I am going…to take the kids to swimming tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day…

I am wearing…myself out!

I am reading… emails. Sorry if I owe you one… I am shamefully behind with all my correspondence!

I am hoping… to be able to slow myself down. Why do I always feel like I have to do it all? Do any of you do this, or is it just me? The funny thing is, I use to LOVE being out all the time, now I find myself longing for a few days at home with no plans! It is SO weird!

I am hearing… Snuggles breathing as he sleeps in my lap, and the rest of the kids playing quietly in their rooms.

Around the house… I have quite a bit to catch up on. Basically, laundry, laundry and more laundry!

One of my favorite things… is getting together with family! My sister Jennifer had a BBQ/Housewarming party on Sunday, and it was so nice to see everyone! Well, almost everyone, we were missing 4 of my siblings… However, 8 out of 12 isn’t bad!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week

  • Auditory Processing Class for Captain, Mon-Wed 8am
  • Visit the chiropractor for an adjustment. I somehow messed up my neck.
  • Summer with the Saints on Thursday
  • Mass & Benediction on Friday. The boys will be serving!
  • Swimming lessons on Mon-Thurs. The girls were moved into a “big girl” class this week, and are doing marvelously. We are now at the pool from 9:30 to 1:00. Today we skipped Snuggles class and came home early…

Here is a picture thought I am sharing:

I just got up for a second to lay Snuggles in his bed, and this is what the kiddos were up to as they were “playing quietly” in their rooms. Building forts! Looks like they are enjoying being home just as much as I am!

I don’t do near as much as you, that’s for sure! I am always amazed at how much you accomplish and attempt. I think you must love torture! 😉 If it’s not some fun activity you’re doing or an indepth post, you are making a new food creation to feed your family. AHHHH! I can never let my kids read your blog. They’ll really feel like they’re missing out.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
