The Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ June 23rd

FOR TODAY

Outside my Window… the weather is absolutely beautiful! The sun is shining. It’s hot, but not humid… Perfect!

I am thinking… that I can’t believe my baby is already one!!!

I am thankful for… finally having groceries in the house!

From the kitchen…there is lots of banana bread, muffins and smoothies! For dinner we will be having home cooked flour tortillas, pinto beans topped with cheese, rice, and corn. Plus, leftover cupcakes for dessert!

I am creating… a Blog Book using Blurb BookSmart. It is so much fun!

I am going… to drop the older boys off at their first swim lesson of the year, and then the 3 little ones and I will be going to a funeral this morning for a friends father. He passed away last Friday at the age of 61. He was such a good man, and actually oversaw the addition to our home a few years ago. May he rest in peace!

I am wearing… a knee length (black white and burgundy) skirt, black tank camisole and matching sweater with black beads on the neck and cuffs, silver hoop earrings, and a pair of black pumps made by Mudd.

I am reading… or rather, still reading: Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s St. Therese – A Treasured Love Story. I need to make more time to read!

I am hoping… that Snuggles is ok. He has a weight check Tuesday morning, and I should get his lab results then as well. He seems to be doing better, for the most part.

I am hearing…the children rummaging through their dresser drawers, looking for their swimsuits.

Around the house… I have found over 8 dead black widows outside. I am so glad we had the house sprayed right before our trip. I would rather not have a “bumper crop” of Black widows… Eeewww!!!

One of my favorite things… is blogging! Isn’t it so much fun?

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week

We will be going to a funeral this morning. Then it is swimming lessons, Monday-Friday, for Capitan and Rascal. Captain will be working with his auditory processing tutor Tuesday-Thursday. And, as I mentioned above, I will be taking Snuggles to the doctor tomorrow. So it looks like it is going to be a totally crazy week! Oh! And not to mention, that we are hoping to have a yard sale on Saturday… Is that an unrealistic goal?

Here is a picture thought I am sharing:

I meant to post this Monday morning, but ran out of time!!! With my schedule this week, I’m not surprised!

Your mom makes yummy pinto beans. I still haven’t figured out how to make it on my own the same.

    Love the cake for Snuggles!!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
