On St. Valentine’s Day

Right now, my girls are coloring Charlotte’s lovely picture, the boys are playing “Lord of the Rings” Risk, Snuggles is playing with his “toys,” hubby hasn’t been feeling well and is in bed (but still found a way to surprise me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers), and I am recovering from a super busy week and still blushing after seeing Elizabeth’s post last night! My girls have been asking all morning if they can wear their “sprinkle” dresses and go play with Karoline! =)

Yesterday we had so much fun getting together with a few friends… I took a bunch of photos and will try to post some soon. However, right now I need to go and bake a birthday cake for my sweet little brother Scott, who was our Valentine gift 19 years ago today! Happy birthday Scotty! While I am out delivering it to him, I think I will pick up a couple heart shaped pizzas (and maybe some chicken soup) and a movie for tonight (any suggestions?).

What are your plans? Whatever you are up to, I hope you have a very blessed St. Valentine’s Day!

Most Gracious Heavenly Father, You gave Saint Valentine the courage to witness to the gospel of Christ, even to the point of giving his life for it. Help us to endure all suffering for love of you, and to seek you with all our hearts; for you alone are the source of life and love. Grant that we may have the courage and love to be strong witnesses of your truth to our friends and family and to the whole world. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Every year we have the dish A La Homer that my husband makes. I told him when were dating six years ago how I love Spaghetti Factory’s A La Homer, so he surprised me with his version on our first Valentine’s. Now we do this every year and usually watch a comedy. We’ve seen I Married An Axe Murder, Old James Bond Movie…I know not a comedy, but seems so cheesy now. Ooh I can’t recall the others, but proably mention them in my past Valentine’s Ipp blogs.
    God Bless.

    That is so sweet Megan!!

I just remembered Fireproof!! I’ve been wanting to see it forever, and it has been at the top of my Netflix list since it was released, but it still says “long wait”… I think I might try and get that!!

After heart shaped pancakes for breakfast; heart shaped grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and heart shaped brownies for desert:) ; my husband and I picked up some food at a restaurant and are waiting for the kids to go to bed before we have a very nice evening together with some good food and maybe even a movie.

Great post, I’m so glad to have found your blog, lots of good ideas and inspirations!
Our dinner was creating the same dinner I made my husband on our first date 18 years ago…the kids loved it!

I know it’s past Valentine’s Day now but I love the movie Return to Me. I think that it was made in 2000? We’ve got to rent Fireproof as well. The people who have seen it said that it’s wonderful! Did you end up getting it?

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
