On Easter Day ~ At Home

by | Apr 15, 2009 | Easter, Holidays | 8 comments

After arriving home from brunch at my parents, we continued our Easter celebration!

Easter Lilies
Only two of our lilies bloomed in time for Easter Sunday, but there are still about 6 more that will be blooming soon! So pretty!

Some of our Easter Books and our Resurrection Set
My children were so excited!

Easter Baskets

There was not that much candy in the baskets (that was to come in just a bit during their Easter Egg Hunt), but my kiddos loved all their goodies. My boys were especially thrilled with their camouflage baskets and awesome nightlights! (Thanks for the recommendation Suzanne!)

Easter Dinner
It was a rather simple meal, but SO delicious!!
Tri-Tip ~ Asparagus ~ Roasted Red Potatoes ~ Dinner Rolls ~ Sparkling Cider
I never did have an opportunity to make a dessert, but there was plenty of candy to be found!

Our Easter Candle
I decorated it around 1:00 am Easter morning, and it shows… At least it’s finished!

It was such a nice relaxing Easter Sunday! We even had an opportunity to watch a movie after our children were in bed… We still have plenty of time to bake a cake and decorate eggs, right?!

    Your flowers look beautiful!
Where do you find your easter candle? I got a simple one from Michael’s last year and it didn’t last long. Is your candle one that can burn all 50 days?

    Thank you!

Roxaline ~ I think I did buy the candle at Michael’s, back at Christmas time when I bought our Christ Candle… We light the candle at dinner, and I sort of push the edges in as it burns down to help it burn more evenly and last longer. I am pretty sure it will last the 50 days.

Next year I am planning on making the one sold by Illuminated Ink. In fact, I just ordered it from Adoremus Books since they are having their annual sale offering 20% off (EASTER9 is the code). It looks really pretty!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
