Inauguration Day Mass Intentions

by | Jan 12, 2009 | Prayer Request, Pro-Life | 13 comments

A couple weeks ago, I was sent this prayer request, and since it is such an awesome idea, I wanted to pass it on to you all so that you can help out as well!!

WHO: A few faithful Catholic lay people and priests. (Anyone can do this: stay-at-home moms, singles, retired people, students–anyone–and we can have a huge impact on our country’s future.)

WHAT: Have a Mass said on Inauguration Day for our new President. It can be said for his conversion or, “That our new president will work to protect the dignity of each human life.” Consider that St. Leonard of Port Maurice said that one Mass offered before death may be more profitable than many after it, and St. Anslem affirmed this.

WHEN: Tuesday January 20, 2009 Inauguration Day

WHERE: Throughout our country in as many Catholic churches as possible.

WHY: Because offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for an intention is very powerful.

HOW: Simply call your local parish and ask to reserve January 20th for your intention. Then send a check for $10 to the priest for your Mass intention. Next please choose three friends (or more) to pass this request on to.

I’ll be calling my local parishes this week to request Masses for this intention. Here is the list of Masses being offered (as of a couple weeks ago — I am sure there are many more!) Won’t you help us get YOUR parish onto this list?

The Masses in our parish are spoken for months in advance, so scheduling one would be impossible. However, if this is the case for anyone else, one can attend Mass on that day and personally apply that Mass and Holy Communion for this very important intention.

PS I forgot to sign that earlier comment. Jessica, I am Sarah Hatke Antonio’s mother. She has spoken of you many times! And we both read your blog every day!! And have gotten many great ideas from it. God bless you in this new year!

What a wonderful suggestion Mrs. Hatke! Thank you!!

I ran into the same problem here, and was able to request one Mass in January, though not on the 20th. I think my children and I will do just what you suggested!

Also, thanks for saying hello! I wish you all didn’t live so far away. It would be nice to meet you and see Sarah and her family again! God Bless!

Masses are scheduled months in advance in our town too, but I will try anyway and if not, we will try to go to Mass that day!

This is such a great idea Jessica!

What a wonderful idea! God bless you for it. I called our parish and got the intention of the conversion of our new president put down for Jan.20th. So please include us on the list (Delta,Co: St. Michael’s Curch) Thank you!

I just want to encourage people to contact their parishes even if you think that the Intention schedule is booked. Just today we called a local parish that was booked. We knew the priest was very pro-life so encouraged the secretary to ask him when he called in. She did and he approved some rearranging and the Mass is scheduled for the 20th. Someone else told me today that all the days next week were booked–escept the 20th!.

And there are places other than parishes that don’t get booked as quickly: monasteries, Catholic schools and nursing homes, priests’ retirement centers. And don’t forget that faithful semi-retired priest who would just love to pray for this intention.

That’s my $.02 worth of encouragement. Blessings to all of you for your prayers for Life.

I also could not get a mass scheduled until May – so I went ahead and scheduled 05/14/09 at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, FL and also one in May 2009 (exact date ??) at St. Francis of Assissi in Seffner, Florida. Although later than requested I was pleased they are in the month of Mary! Hope this was okay. God’s blessings ~

    Cathy,

That’s great! Two more Masses. God works outside of time. The time-frame is just for us humans.

We logged 49 Masses yesterday and added 19 more today, for a total of 353 Masses for this intention–even one in Vatican City!

Thanks everyone for caring for the most vulnerable among us!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
