FOR TODAY: July 6th, 2009
Outside my Window… it’s sunny right now, with a high of 84 on the forecast! Perfect weather after a week of highs over 100 degrees!!
I am thinking… that I might have been crazy for wanting to move around 4 of the rooms in our home… This is turning out to be WAY more work than I thought it would be, but it WILL BE WORTH IT IN THE END!! (At least that is what I keep telling myself…)
I am thankful… for my 17 year old sister JoAnn, who came to my rescue a few days last week when I was feeling completely overwhelmed by all the “stuff”, and for my little brothers who helped hubby move some of the furniture from room to room.
From the kitchen… Nanaimo Bars and Homemade Apple Pie from the Bakesale/Fundraiser after Mass yesterday! YUM!!!
From the school room… Lots of changes!!! Everything you see in the picture I posted of the “mess” in my last Daybook (in mid June) has been moved and has been replaced by two bunk beds for the boys. Hopefully I will be able to post a few pictures soon.
Living the Liturgical year at Home… I recently compiled all the old posts for July over at Catholic Cuisine into one post for easy reference. I am going to try and continue this each month… ☺
Since today is the feast of St. Maria Goretti, I pulled out this coloring/story book to read to the children, and I also plan on reading Princess & the Kiss: A Story of God’s Gift of Purity since she is the patron of young women and purity. Also, this coming Friday is the feast of St. Benedict. I’ll be pulling out Catholic Mosaic and reading The Holy Twins.
I am creating… a more organized home and a precious new baby!
I am going… to start taking my vitamins again. I haven’t been, and I really notice a difference.
I am wearing… maternity clothes since I seem to have a little baby bump that is growing bigger. I am almost positive that I felt a little kick the other day. So exciting!!
I am reading… lots of blog posts on organization, and have especially enjoyed Jen’s posts on her learning room. So very INSPIRING!!!!
I am hoping… to finish my plans for this coming school year and begin in August. How about you? When will your children start the new school year?
I am hearing… the children watching Bugs Bunny in the Living Room. The other night, during dinner, I asked if anyone would like seconds. Rascal replied, “No more for me thanks, I’m driving!” Hubby and I couldn’t were SHOCKED, and were trying to figure out WHERE he heard that. Apparently it is a quote from Looney Toons… lol!
Around the house… too much stuff, but hopefully not for long! Elizabeth mentioned that she has been “seeking to have more white space in her home.” That is exactly what I am looking for too and I can’t wait to read her newest article: Simplifly Your Domestic Church. What perfect timing!
One of my favorite things… my boy’s nightlights! I purchased them from Target after seeing Suzanne Temple’s recommendation and they are PERFECT!!
- Monthly OB check-up tomorrow morning
- Take the children to a $1.00 movie at the theater. They have been saving their tickets! 😉
- Drop off stuff to be donated at St. Vincent’s
- Summer with the Saints on Thursday
A picture thought I am sharing:
Since I already posted Twinkle Toes’ cute 4th of July Cupcakes, how about a picture of my 4th of July FAIL!! It was suppose to look like this, but when I went to add the blue layer of jello I forgot to let it “Chill in refrigerator about 30 minutes, or until the surface of the Jell-O is firm but still tacky” and it went right through the cool whip… Oops!
Oooh, I've wanted to try the nanaimo bars for a good long time. I hope you get all your work done!
Four rooms!! Look forward to hearing all about it.
YUMMY! Those bars look amazing.
Are those lights clip on? I'm looking for something similar.
I made the same jello and the same thing happened to me. I actually did a trial one last weekend and waited too long. The jello was too set and didn't layer smoothly at all. So for the 4th I was determined to not have that happen again. Then I guess like you, I didn't wait long enough…I about died when the cool whip popped through and rose to the top! So I spooned all the yucky cool whip off and let the second jello layer set completely. Then I topped it with a nice layer of fresh whip. I would have added berries if I had them…next time I'm just going to do it this way from the get go!
You are daring cousin!
I wonder if you ever rest. 🙂
Love you. Keep up the good work.
The nanaimo bars were DELICIOUS and I hope to try making them myself sometime. =)
Aimee ~ Yes, the lights are clip on (though in my picture, the one on the top bunk is screwed down since the wood was so thick. (It was nice to have a hole in the back for that option… The light on the bottom bunk was able to attach to the bottom of the top bunk. They are GREAT lights!
April ~ I am glad to hear that I was not the only one that had that problem!! I couldn't believe it when the cool whip started bubbling. lol! I didn't have much left over, but was able to smooth it out and scrape the blue off the top at least. =)
I love the picture of the boys. It is such a perfect moment of childhood! Like them being under a sheet with a flashlight and their favorite book.
Nice daybook! The boys look right at home reading in bed! I think that 4th of July jello looks good!
I've only had Nanaimo bars once, but yum.
Great photo.
Dear Jessica,
Our entire family loves Bugs Bunny. We have watched him for years and all the children can quote a lot of the Looney Tunes quotes.
It would be interesting to see your new learning areas.
I am thinking I should re look at my own and do a Learning Rooms post.
sounds like you are getting past your unweel stage. I pray your little one is growing well.
God Bless
