The Passion for Children

by | Feb 28, 2009 | Lent, Music, Stations of the Cross | 8 comments

I know that I’ve mentioned it before, but my children *love* all of the Glory Story CD’s that are put out by Catholic World Missions. The last couple years, my children have each gotten one of the CD’s in their Easter Basket and we now all 10 CD’s.

One of our favorite CD’s during Lent is The Passion for Children: The Way of the Cross. This CD teaches children how to pray the Stations of the Cross, and also includes dramatized explanations of “what happened” at each station.

Right now, you can listen to the full “The Passion for Children” CD online!

Also, for those of you interested in ordering a couple CD’s for Easter Baskets… 😉 My *favorite* place to purchase them is Sacred Heart Books and Gifts. Not only do they offer the Glory Story CD’s at a 25% discount, they also offer free shipping with a $25 order, making them very affordable. (I also order most of my Little Flower supplies from them too!! You can’t beat their prices!)

We really like these CDs too. I just wanted to mention that they are not just for children. We recently gave some of them to my in-laws (my mother-in-law is blind) and they have been enjoying listening to them!

Excellent post as I have not yet heard of these myself and usually just when I know all resources available, something else comes up requiring a visit and shopping experience because of the luscious temptation it offers….LOL Thanks so much for the link! God Bless

I have been eyeing these for awhile… what would you say would be the youngest age they’d be appropriate for? Would they be understandable for preschoolers, or are they better for older children?

Erin ~ My preschoolers enjoy them, though I am not sure they understand everything that takes place in some of them… Just like Shelly, I too have cried a few times listening to some of the stories, so you may want to start with some of the stories of saints that were not martyred.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
