Back-to-School :: 2010-2011

by | Sep 10, 2010 | Back-to-School, Home Education, Pictures, Schultütes | 11 comments

Captain :: 4th Grade ~ Rascal :: 3rd Grade
Twinkle Toes :: 1st Grade ~ Chiquita :: Kindergarten

Just like last year, the kids all woke up to find Schultütes filled with snacks and school supplies!  Even Snuggles, who wouldn’t let me take an individual picture of him and will be focusing more on potty training this year instead of school, loved his mini version.
Overall we had a great first day!  I decided to start on Thursday since we have a Back-to-School Mass & get together with our Homeschool Group today and should now be ready to start on our “real” schedule next week.

    School can be so much fun! Glad to hear you had a good first day. 🙂

    As for those planners, which ones are you using? In the past we have used the Good News student planners by Creative Communications.

    The planners are the Days of Faith Planners by Pflaum. We used them last year and I wasn't sure I'd use them again, but I was very happy with a couple of the changes for this year and when one of the moms in our homeschool group organized a group purchase (bringing them down to around $4 each) I decided to order them again. My children love them!! I ordered the Planner for Intermediate Grades (they have so much more room for writing assignments) for my three oldest and the one for Primary Grades (has lots of fun activities) for Chiquita. You can preview them at this link.

    If you are on the lookout for a great math series SAXON comes by highly recommended by my homeschooled hubby. They use the spiral method which reinforces and incorporates previously studied material. Very effective!!!!

    Love the back to school packages! What a cute idea! 🙂 My Lydia will be ready for kindergarten next year. Until then, we are trying to take preschool seriously this year.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
