“The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and like a strong man runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and there is nothing hid from its heat.” Psalm 19: 1-6

16. The Cloud

You can either use the recipe below, or just serve each child a big dollop of Whipped Cream.

Whipped Creamy Clouds

1 container Non-dairy Whipped Topping

Provide each child with a piece of waxed paper and a spoon. To make a treat, a child scoops a large spoonful of nondairy whipped topping onto their waxed paper. Then the child uses their spoon to create a cloud shape. Freeze each child’s cloud; then serve.

“And all the men of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the feast in the month Eth’anim, which is the seventh month. And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. And they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up. And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who had assembled before him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered. Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim. For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim made a covering above the ark and its poles. And the poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the holy place before the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside; and they are there to this day. There was nothing in the ark except the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the people of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. And when the priests came out of the holy place, a cloud filled the house of the LORD, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.” 1 Kings 8: 2-11

17. The Rain

If you do not have drinks made by Talking Rain available (I buy ours at Costco), any sparkling flavored water would work just as well.

“You have heard that it was said, `You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5: 43-48

18. The Lightning

Charlotte has created lightning bolts, which you can print, cut out and attach to straws for the “Rain” drinks.  It can be downloaded here.

Here is a recipe for Thunder and Lightning Pasta as well, in case you’d like to include a main dish:

Thunder and Lightning

Ingredients:

  • 1-16 oz can Chick Peas, drained
  • 1 lb Elbow Macaroni
  • 2 Garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Basil
  • 1 tbsp Parsley
  • Olive Oil for drizzling

Directions:

1. Cook the macaroni in a large pan of boiling water, lightly salted for 10 minutes, or until just resistant to the bite. Drain.

2. Sauté the garlic in a large skillet in olive oil for a few minutes. Add drained chick peas & macaroni. Mix in the basil & parsley. Cook over a very low heat, stirring occasionally, until the flavors are absorbed & the mixture is heated through. Season with salt & pepper & serve hot.

“Whence then comes wisdom? And where is the place of understanding? It is hid from the eyes of all living, and concealed from the birds of the air. Abaddon and Death say, `We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.’ “God understands the way to it, and he knows its place. For he looks to the ends of the earth, and sees everything under the heavens. When he gave to the wind its weight, and meted out the waters by measure; when he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder.” Job 28:20-26

19. The Hail

Crushed Ice

Provide a bowl of crushed ice to be served with the drinks.

“Has the rain a father, or who has begotten the drops of dew? From whose womb did the ice come forth, and who has given birth to the hoarfrost of heaven? The waters become hard like stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.” Job 38: 28-30

20. The Wind

You can either purchase a box of Hostess Cupcakes, or decorate half of the cupcakes you made for the sun with “wind”.

“So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And as I looked, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them; but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great host.” Ezekiel 37: 7-10

When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.” Genesis 9: 12-15

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
