Little Flowers Girls’ Club ~ Wisdom

by | Mar 12, 2010 | Little Flowers, Little Flowers Wreath II | 16 comments

Now that our little Rose is already nearly 3 months old, it was time to resume our Little Flowers Girls’ Club meetings for this year.   I can not believe how fast the time has passed!  I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to pull it all together, but thanks to my mom who came over on Wednesday (to help around the house, bake cupcakes, and do a couple school subjects with the kids!!) and with a little cooperation from Rose (and the help of her Guardian Angel and St. Therese, I am SURE!) who slept most of the afternoon so I could finish getting everything ready, it all came together.

Here is a little overview of what kept us busy during the meeting:

~ Coloring Pages ~

Saint Teresa Benedicta Coloring Page
from Catholic Artworks Faith Keepers Combo
~ Notebook Pages ~

I included the memory verse for Wisdom, an image of St. Teresa Benedicta, the Come Holy Ghost prayer, images of an iris and a dove, and the prayer to St. Teresa Benedicta from the Little Flowers Virtues CD.

(If you would like to download the document I created for this notebook page, you can do so here and here. Also, you can find links to all of my notebook page documents in this post.)

(Here is the sample page I had prepared for the meeting.)

And here are the girls finished pages:

~ Craft ~

To simplify the preparation and planing for our group, all of this year’s crafts were purchased from Oriental Trading.  For the virtue of Wisdom I thought having the girls make bookmarks would be fun and appropriate.   We’d did need a little help from a couple moms and some needle nose pliers, but overall it was a simple craft and turned out super cute!  Here is a picture of one of my girls finished bookmarks:

~ Meeting ~
After reading about St. Teresa Benedicta, and discussing the virtue of Wisdom, Miss Amy read God’s Wisdom for Little Girls to the Little Flowers while I finished preparing the snacks.   Thank you Amy
~ Snack Time ~

I had a hard time coming up with a snack for the virtue of Wisdom. I thought about purchasing this pan, baking a book shaped cake, and then decorating it with the memory verse for wisdom or perhaps a quote from this saint, but decided that might be a little more than I’d be able to pull off right now.  So, I simplified that idea by decorating fig newtons to look like books and placing them on top of cupcakes.  I thought they turned out cute!

My girls had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to our next meeting in just two weeks!

Saint Teresa Benedicta of the cross, as Edith Stein you learned the truth of God, help us to learn wisdom as you.

Saint Therese, the Little Flower, pray for us!

I just can hardly wait until my daughter is old enough so that she and i can start a Little Flowers Girls club in our area. (I haven't checked yet to see if there is one is existence in my city). She's only 3, but I do love all that the Club stands for and teaches. You had a wonderful Club meeting — those fig newtons decorated as books are beautiful and clever. and the coloring pages and notebook page are beautiful too. how wonderful you have so many girls in the group.

Beautiful creations! We had our last official LF meeting in Mar. on First Sat. I think I may plan for an Easter Tea in April before the girls participate in the May Procession & Crowning.
I've been taking notes from your wonderful posts on the Garden of the Good Shepherd and your Easter Tea. I'd be lost without your example.

    Oh Jessica,
Those cupcakes came out so cute. I'll definetly be using your idea for our group next year. We have our meeting today…9 little 5-6 year olds.

    Thanks for the sharing!

I will have to keep the Fig Newton Bible/book idea in the back of my mind. How ingenious!
Your club posts always make me wish I was a Little Flower, or my girls were little enough to be one. 🙂

My daughter saw the fig newton Bibles and was so excited when she figured out how you made them! We'll definitely have to steal that idea for next year! I'm so thankful that you're a year ahead of us–our group is reaping the benefits! Thank you for sharing!!

    Thank you everyone!

Kelly ~ We use to have our meetings in town at night, and the boys would stay home with their dad, but, since I changed it to afternoon and have it at home, they now just read books or play games in their room or outside. They are pretty good about not interrupting the meeting, although they always tend to make an appearance as soon as the snacks are being served! 😉

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
