Celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Happy Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe!

We have dear friends visiting from out of state for the rest of the week, but I wanted to hop online and share a few pictures from this year’s celebration in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe!   In addition to reading the two books pictured above, we enjoyed another Tea in Honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  The kids helped set up everything while we anxiously awaited their arrival this afternoon!

All ready and waiting for our guests to arrive!

.: Tepayac Hill :.

This year I decided to skip the food for this item and create “Tepayac Hill” with an upside down bowl, some Our Lady of Guadalupe Fabric, and a statue of Our Lady as a centerpiece for the table.

.: A Woman Clothed with the Sun :.

Sun Taco Dip

2 cans refried beans, topped with 1 package cream cheese mixed with 1 cup of sour cream and 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning, and then topped with cheddar cheese.  Surround with chips to create the sun’s rays.   (Before serving, I did pop it in the oven to melt the cheese.)

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mystical rose, intercede for the Church, protect the Holy Father, help all who invoke you in their necessities. Since you are the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of the true God, obtain for us from your most holy Son the Grace of a firm faith and sure hope amid the bitterness of life, as well as an ardent love and the precious gift of final perseverance. Amen.

Thank you everyone! I wasn't going to do it this year, and at 1:00 (with our company coming at 4:00) the kids and I decided to run to the store for a few things and set it up for our company! I'm so glad we did, and that it all just fell into place with a few simple modifications. 🙂

I've been trying to find the link to the fabric for you all, but I'm not having any luck. I ran across it online a couple years ago, along with a couple other Our Lady of Guadalupe designs, and purchased a yard and one other with 8 panels (that I thought would work great for a St. Juan Diego Costume someday). I am almost positive that I bought it from Some Art Fabric.

I love how it all came together for you – it was meant to be! Great spread, the kids look thrilled too. Lots of more great ideas here – my #8 was born on this feast day and we always love to enjoy it with Mexico in mind.

The Virgin Mary must be so happy and smiling from Heaven. Beautiful Job.
I found a similar fabric online through Ebay. Sometimes there are people who sell special fabrics by the panel, a little expensive but so worth it. God bless always! Merry Christmas! =)

This is excellent. Our simple feast day plans were preempted by a sick little boy and a very tired mommy. Maybe next year–just can't seem to get as much done this Advent with the flu and pneumonia travelling through the house and me not being my usual energetic self. I have no idea how you did what you did last year with being so pregnant, Sean away, sick kids. You had quite a winter, God bless your preseverance. You are an inspiration.

Is it me, or are the kids in the same basic order in the post in this pic as they are (plus a few!) in the updated family pic on the right? Beautiful family!

Just seeing your comment on this old post! (I used a new commenting system and didn't realize I wasn't getting comments on old blog posts. Sorry!)

Anyway… That is funny!! The girls ARE indeed in the same order, but both sets of boys are on opposite sides. 🙂

    Thank you!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
