Traditionally called Candlemas, candles are blessed on this day to help us remember the words of holy Simeon who called the babe in his arms, “A light to lighten the gentiles and the glory of your people, Israel.” Luke 2: 32.

I LOVE THESE!!!! I'm making your Candlemas Cupcakes, but tempted to run back to the store for some more cookies!!!
Yummy! Happy feast day!
A friend took me to a special service (they call them "Marian Mornings") at another Catholic church in our area this morning and they were giving away blessed candles afterwards and I raced to get one for my husband who is so ill, but just missed the last one. A kind lady saw my face and gave me hers, which I was deeply grateful for. But not until I read your blog did I realize today was candlemas! Lots to learn for this new Catholic!
Awesome! And I have fudge stripes in the house. You are light years ahead of me in creativity. We copied one of your ideas from another year…still fun and cute! Thanks for all of the excellent ideas! Next year this…and then the following year whatever you come up with next year! Ha, ha! You're the best! -Genevieve
How sweet of that woman to give you her candle!
I read your comment while I was on the treadmill yesterday about to begin a rosary, so I prayed it for you and your husband. God bless you both!
Oh, bless you Jessica! We went to the oncologist today and he wants more tests to find out exactly where the primary tumor is–he's not sure he agrees with the idea that the cancer originated in the liver due to his normal alphafetoprotein test, usually highly elevated in liver cancer. He still thinks he has a malignant mass there–just not sure where it originated. He also wants us to go to Dallas for their clinic workup for those with liver cancer as well. Anyhow please keep praying and God bless you in your weight loss endeavor. Your breakfast looked pretty yummy, actually!
