“Root of Jesse” Ornaments for the Jesse Tree Swap

by | Nov 26, 2013 | Christmas 2013, Jesse Tree Ornament Swap | 8 comments

In addition to the angels I made for the Jesse Tree Ornament Swap, I also mailed in the set of “Jesse” Ornaments (Tree Stump with Shoot) from my local friend Trina, who I convinced to join the swap when she was here tutoring one Tuesday morning.  (Her boys are the ones who have been joining us for a few of our feast day celebrations this year!) She made her ornaments with some birch branches from her backyard and I thought they turned out lovely!  We are really looking forward to seeing the rest of the ornaments when our box arrives!

And there shall come forth a rod out of the root of Jesse, and a flower shall rise up out of his root.  Isaiah 11:1

Darling! I think I'm going to try to make my own set with my favorites ornaments shared via swaps. It will the best of the best. My girls would love the challenge.

    Prayers for a blessed Thanksgiving!

You and Trina did a beautiful job! I'd love to participate in something like that, but I'm not crafty enough not to embarrass myself! 😉

How lovely – Please post pictures of the whole set once its received. Life got in the way, and I was waaayyy too late in joining the exchange this year, but I think we'd all love to share in the joy of that.
    Blessings~

The box came yesterday and I couldn't wait to unwrap your little angel. She is so beautiful!!! Elizabeth and I loved going through all of the ornaments. She was a bit upset when I said we had to put them all back into the bag. Thanks again for linking to the swap, it was so much fun to participate. I loved seeing everyone's creativity! Quick question though – where do you get your felt for the wings? it felt a bit stiffer than I normally see when I look for craft felt. Just curious if there was a certain type I need to look for.

    How wonderful.
I am still waiting for my box from a swap that included Catholic Bloggers from the US & Canada. I can't wait!
Those angels are great. I found a company that makes Angel Pegs too. Hmmm. That stump is genius.
    Sigh – so talented.
    Blessings from Ft. Worth!

We got ours the day you posted this. So excited to see all the pretties! We made the scroll. Our, I helped my teenager make them. 🙂 My kids were all impressed by your angel, mostly because it came from "Jessica at Shower of Roses", and you are well known in our house, lol….as in, "I got this idea from Jessica at Shower of Roses"….

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
