Metal Earth {3D Laser Cut Models}

by | Dec 4, 2013 | Favorite Toys, Model Kits | 10 comments

I keep forgetting to share these pictures from a couple weeks ago!  Rascal had so much fun putting together a Metal Earth 3D Laser Cut Model one Sunday afternoon!

The Manuafacture recommends them for ages 14-18, but our 11 (almost 12) year old didn’t have any trouble assembling his ship.

We are planning on purchasing a couple more of these little models to include in the older boys Christmas stockings…

Perhaps the Wright Brothers Airplane, the P-51 Mustang, or the Sherman Tank?

The Neuschwanstein Castle looks really neat too… I really wish they had the Vatican or some Catholic Cathedrals! 🙂

There are so many great options… which to choose?  If anyone has built these before I’d love to hear your favorites!

Didn’t it turn out neat?!
Our boys first saw these at a local specialty toy store with their Dad one Friday after Mass,
but they can also be found at Barnes and Noble and Amazon.

Yes, it did turn out neat and I didn't even know these existed. My boys would love them!

I think your boys are spacially (is that a word?) advanced and incredibly good at following directions. Faith is very good at "winging it" — LOL — which I don't think you could do with those! Are there any car models?

Thank you for sharing. Nathaniel's birthday is next week and I just ordered some for his birthday. We have been trying to figure out what to get him!
Many blessings for a wonderful Advent

I'm so glad these worked for your son! I purchased one for my oldest over the summer (he's 11), and the tabs broke so easily– I'm thinking it was a different brand and therefore inferior in quality?

Yes, I agree, they do have incredible visual-spatial ability! The Lego Perplexus they built is another great example of that… There is absolutely no way my 10 year old daughter (just 18 months younger than Rascal) could even come close to doing these same sorts of projects. I think I did see an old Ford model, but I don't remember any other cars.

Interesting! I would be curious to know if it was a different brand or not… But I can see how these tabs could break easily. Our son did mention he had to be very careful when removing them from the sheets and commented that my small scissors would have worked better than the large ones… I'm hoping to find the boys their own scissors and a pair of needle nose pliers to put in their stockings too. I guess we will see how they do on the next one! 🙂

    Jessica,

I bought three today at a toy store for my nephews. Having 6 daughters, I always find it hard to come up with toys for boys. This was such a timely post. Please let us know what other things are in the works for Christmas gifts for your children. I am also giving books as part of our St Nicholas fun…so thanks for all the ideas.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
