Hi Jessica, Have you heard of the author Matt Christopher? He was a American author who wrote wonderful stories for boys about sports. He is no longer living but his family continues to have his books printed. Our son so enjoyed reading his books when he was in elementary school and he has a nice collection of these sports books. I was specifically thinking about your little guy Snuggles and his love for hockey like his older brothers. Matt Christopher wrote some stories about hockey…The Hockey Machine-1992; Wingman on Ice-1993 and Body Check-2003 to name a few. He wrote many stories about football, baseball and basketball. Perhaps he would be an author you might be interested in…if you have not heard of him. As a mom I highly recommend him. The Robert Ingpen version has a LOT of pictures. I have the other one, and it is nice, but the large color pictures of Ingpen are great. I think some of the text is over full page pictures (I am trying to remember from borrowing from the library), but as long as that won't be distracting for your reader, I suggest trying Ingpen. Unless you prefer less pictures and some nice introductory material in the anniversary edition.
