Gingerbread House Cookies

by | Jan 3, 2016 | Advent and Christmas, Christmas 2014, Christmas Baking, Gingerbread Houses | 2 comments

I’ll be back soon with the pictures of this year’s Gingerbread Houses, but first I wanted to share pictures of the Gingerbread House Cookies we made last Christmas since I realized that this post (along with so many others…) was still sitting in my drafts folder!
Last year, instead of making actual houses, we baked and decorated Mini 3D Gingerbread House Cookies using the new cookie cutter we received as our treat for the O Antiphon on December 18th. We used refrigerated gingerbread cookie dough from the store to keep it as quick and easy as possible, since I had a Barnyard Birthday Cake to bake and decorate that night for our youngest son’s Farmer Boy birthday the next day.
We baked and assembled them that night, then decorated them the next morning.

Those are adorable! I baked it all from scratch this year (we have never had luck with the kits) but ended up using a ruler and knife to cut all the pieces. I am definitely looking into cookie cutters for the houses next year.

Thank you for sharing this post. These Gingerbread Houses are perfect for little hands and turned out so cute. It is also neat to see how your children have grown in this past year. I so love Gingerbread Houses and People and I decorate my kitchen with Christmas Gingerbread each Advent. I keep up Gingerbread People in my kitchen throughout the year as well. They are such whimsical little kitchen adornments and now my grandsons are old enough to enjoy looking at these little folks as well. Jessica your Advent and Christmastide posts are always so inspiring!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
