Blessed Mother, as you so humbly and graciously accepted God’s will to bear and raise His only son, and to guide him in wisdom and virtue, help me in the instruction and education of my children. Pray to your Heavenly Son to grant me the grace and strength to assist in their learning, overcoming tiredness and discouragement. Assist me in the management of my home, so that I may be able to keep order and peace, despite the challenges of schooling within it. Intercede for me, imploring Our Heavenly Father to bestow upon me wisdom, not for my own sake, but so that I may form my children’s minds and hearts, so that they may grow into strong adults, helping to shape the world for His glory, and ultimately inheriting the kingdom of heaven. Call upon your heavenly angels to stand by my side, with their great intelligence, to help me understand that which I am instructing, and assist my children in learning of same. We humbly ask this through you beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
We are off to Mass to celebrate our Blessed Mother’s birthday and the beginning of our new school year!
I shared the following over on Instagram but wanted to record it here too:
After a whirlwind road trip on Friday, move-in day Saturday, and New Student Mass and Brunch today (Sunday), I’m heading back home and leaving a big chunk of my heart in North Dakota. How is it even possible that we have three young adults in college already?!? Please remember them, and all students, in your prayers! Love you so much @captain_faramir @celtickittens @rangerrascal and I will be praying and fasting for a blessed and fruitful semester for you all at @universityofmary!
I keep having the sweetest pictures pop up in my memories this week… Click here for a flash back to ten years ago! So much has changed and yet so much is still the same. I’m so grateful for all the blessings we have been given and excited to start this new school year with our youngest six still at home!
God is good!
Prayer of Mothers
Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.
God Bless them and keep them safe, healthy, holy and very productive in college.
It was great to meet you briefly at the UMary Wheat Ceremony. I hope your whole family has a blessed school year!
How wonderful for your three oldest children to be in college together. But I thought that your oldest boys were attending Christendom College? – Laura G.
I was curious about this as well. I've heard great things about both places. It must be a relief having them back on your side of the country!
Yes, the boys spent the last two years at Christendom. I'm very glad they were able to complete two years of the excellent core curriculum. It made me sad when we loaded up the car, and left Christendom's beautiful campus last May, knowing there was a pretty good chance they wouldn't be returning. They definitely miss the great friends they made at Christendom! There are many reasons they transferred over to the University of Mary this year – lower cost, more degree options, and much closer to home during these crazy times were high on the list amongst other reasons…
Would love information on University of Mary. Our son is looking at that college. We are scheduled to visit this summer. God Bless
It was great to meet you too, Molly! Thank you! I hope you and your family have a blessed school year as well!
Thank you, Joy!
Wishing you all a successful and happy school year.
God Bless

Are you sure your daughter is old enough to attend university? It doesn't seem possible but I am glad your handsome lads are with her.
Oh my! I have been following your blog for many years. Thank you for the many, many good ideas to help me bring the liturgical year to life for my family. Imagine my surprise today when I looked up your blog and saw that your top three kiddos are at UMary! (I thought your boys were at Christendom?) Anyway, I know how you feel about part of your heart being in North Dakota. My top two kiddos go there. Two years ago, I drove out of the driveway with my heart in my throat, and I cried most of the way back to Michigan. Now, a bigger part of my heart is there as my second oldest chose to go there as well. But, like you, I'm so glad that they are there together! I miss my boys so much. I hope they run into your kids. So many good Catholic families there. God bless you all.
