Pontifical Mass of the Diocesan Bishop

by | Jul 13, 2017 | Altar Boys, Archbishop, Cardinal Burke, Sacred Heart, Sacred Liturgy Conference | 9 comments

Last night my husband and I were blessed to be able to attend the opening Mass of the Sacred Liturgy Conference. It was the Mass of St. Peter, Apostle (Ordinary Form, Votive Mass) celebrated by our Most Reverend Archbishop Alexander Sample.  It brought tears to my eyes to see our two oldest sons and one of our godsons up on the altar (in the church where my husband and I were married) with His Eminence Cardinal Burke, Archbishop Sample and Bishop Vasa!

We were sitting up near the front, behind the first few pews that were filled with all the priests and seminarians, but I was able to take a few pictures when I took the baby to the back. My husband took some more following communion. The boys will have the honor of getting to serve again on Friday for the Pontifical Solemn Mass at the Throne: Mass of St Bonaventure, Bishop (Extraordinary Form, Class III) which will be celebrated by His Eminence, Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke. We are so incredibly blessed to have this holy Cardinal with us here in Oregon, all the way from Rome, for a few days!

Oh my!!! This is a most wonderful experience for you and your husband and your sons! To meet His Eminence in person! Such a Blessing. Cardinal Burke confirmed our son-in-law when he was Bishop. He is a very dear and Holy man…This is such a special unique experience for your sons to serve Holy Mass for him on Friday! An opportunity of a lifetime!!! Your photos are so special Jessica. The painting of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is exquisite. This is a very beautiful church. May God continue to bless your lovely family.

A beautiful Mass, and a blessing to be able to attend! One of our priests was able to attend this confence as well. I can't wait to hear more about it. We were blessed to meet Cardinal Burke several years ago in Pendleton after the NW Men's conference. I don't know if he's been to Oregon another time as Cardinal, but we are certainly grateful for the opportunity we had.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.
