Also quite real was the increase on the scale after a weekend of eating out and celebrating Pentecost (though I did pass on the cake!) and Memorial Day. Hopefully after another day or two of eating healthy and exercising I will be back down to last Friday’s weight, which had been a new post-partum low since December, and not blow it again next weekend!
{pretty, happy, funny, real} Memorial Day 2012
~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life. ~
{pretty}
Seven very pretty girls on Memorial Day… It was so nice to spend some time with my friend Trina and her family (she just had baby #9!) while they were in town for the weekend. Our little Twinkle Toes was very excited to see her godparents, and we especially loved being able to spend some time with our goddaughter!
{happy}
They were all very happy when the boys finally got the fire going so we could roast marshmallows!
{funny}
Looking a little more closely at this picture, which I had just snapped quickly before enjoying “just one” s’more, made me realize that Hubby wasn’t kidding when he said “let me know if I didn’t get all the grass off of that marshmallow”… Nice!
I took the kids and our sweet goddaughter (who just had a birthday!) out for ice cream at a little local ice cream parlor. The “single scoop” cones for $1.50 were nearly as big as Rose’s head!
{real}
The kids had so much fun playing The Settlers of Catan together with their godsister! (We have the add-on extension so that 5-6 people can play at the same time.) It was a REAL close game, with Captain winning by just one turn.

Prayer of Mothers
Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.
great memories…and beautiful kids!
What a fun time!! The girls do indeed look very pretty. We have the same skirt Chiquita is wearing. We also have the expansion pack to go along with the Settlers game. A must in a big family. 🙂 We love that game!
The only down side to the expansion pack is that it can take FOR.EV.ER. to finish a game! 😉 We all love it, but especially my oldest (who was the one that has been receiving the games over the past few years). He has decided that he would love to have a "Settlers of Catan" birthday party this year and I've been having fun searching for and coming up with a few ideas. I am not exactly looking forward to trying to make his cake though! 😉
Lots of good food and good fun!
I can see you in full in googler reader!! yay! I hope this was on purpose….I admit I don't read as often because of that!
Loved the pictures, love all the pink!
You noticed! Yes, I just changed it this morning, just for you and all of my other faithful visitors who have stuck with me all these years despite my insistence on having a short feed!
I've been thinking about it for a long time. All of my original reasons for keeping it on a short feed seemed obsolete (like being able to delete my posts completely if I ever stop blogging, without having them remain in google forever – how likely is it that I will delete my blog? – and not having pictures from my blog "fed" all over the internet, and yet now we have sites like Pinterest, ect).
I don't have sponsors (by choice) since I don't want to feel required to blog or have it influence my blogging, so I don't need to drive traffic to my actual blog… Though I do hope having a full feed won't prevent my visitors from clicking through and commenting. 🙂
This looks like such a fun weekend, full of cute kids and yummy food. I have been wanting to try Settlers of Catan. Is it a good game for 8 year olds? I'm looking for family games that my son can play.
It's recommended for 10-14 year olds, but my 8 year old really enjoys playing – she just needs a little help sometimes. Our 7 year old enjoys playing too… Even though she never comes close to winning she still likes joining the fun and learning how to play.
What a wonderful visit!
Looks like your families had a wonderful visit! Now I'm wanting some s'mores and ice cream {lol!}. The Settlers of Catan game looks interesting; I have an 8 year old as well, and it looks like it would be a great family game.
Hooray! Hooray!! Hooray!!! That's three cheers for your full blog in my google reader. 🙂 I don't think you'll notice a drop in reader comments- and I bet you're readers will actually read more of your content if they can see it all in their feeds. I'm happy about it, at least. 🙂
We LOVE Settlers.
What a wonderful way to spend the day! It looks like everyone had a wonderful time. Love the pretty girly outfits…my daughter has quite a few of the same ones. I love when girls look like girls.
Have a blessed day.
Yay, I really think I'm more apt to comment if I read it in google…funny, I know..Maybe I 'll be number one again? Want to compete Amy? (haha, seriously just kidding)
I seriously think that people who read in google reader are counted in your totals, because if mine are not, then I have like 500 readers, and that is so very unlikely. (does that make sense?)
gotta get to bed, just wanted you to know, I appreciate it!
Hey! I recognize those beautiful redheads! We were able to visit with Trina and family a few weeks back at my nieces' confirmation. Looks like a wonderful time for your families as well!
I just now saw these pictures after a heads up from my friend, Dana…Should have known you would be blogging our pix! It was funny though because Dana and I were looking online for ideas for our VBS and she called to say that she was searching around and stumbled upon your blog. As she was scrolling down she saw our pictures and shrieked, "Oh my gosh, there's the Matthews!" We were laughing about the surprise. They turned out cute. I thought the "funny" one was perfect. Moral: Make Your Own S'More!!! 🙂
