Ascension Thursday Picnic ~ 2010

~ Our Picnic Menu ~

Curried Chicken Salad Sandwiches
(It is traditional to eat some sort of bird since Jesus “flew” to heaven.)

Strawberries & Grapes
(The fruit represents Christ, the first fruit of all men.)

Cream Puffs
(Symbolizing the clouds that were in the sky.)

Sparkling Lemonade
(Chosen for the “rising” bubbles.)

“Not too sweet, not too sour.”

“Just too PINK!”

My children all love to quote the Sound of Music.  I also noticed that the girls were wearing the very same dresses as last year.  (I am surprised they still fit!)  The deer also came to see what we were up to, but I didn’t take many pictures… We were too busy enjoying the afternoon!

    What a spread! We didn't get any pictures of our picnic, I brought my camera without its battery. But I enjoyed the time in a different way without having to snap photos! Thanks for all the great ideas.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.
