So–I’m back! The nice thing about having a fairly decluttered home is that it really is getting quicker to clean up!! We’ve finished some lessons for the day, dinner is in the Crockpot, the laundry is going, and the kids are playing outside in this beautiful weather! I could get busy on my closet, but I think I could use a break too.
Amy tagged me for another meme, which I am going to attempt answering.
I am suppose to list the “5 crittically acclaimed movies I detest.” This is going to be hard… Well, hard to limit it to only FIVE!!!
While looking through a couple other bloggers lists of least favorites, I ran across this guy who said:
“May I suggest you make gutsy choices. Anyone can pick Atonement — anyone can choose easy targets no one will question — targets that may actually up your cool factor. What are those films that dent your cool factor? What films do cool people dig, you can’t, no matter how much you may want to?”
Here’s my list:
- ET — this was the very first movie I ever saw at the movie theater and it throughly freaked me out! Still can’t stand it.
- Wizard of Oz — My 2nd least favorite from childhood. Not sure if it was the movie itself, or the fact that every time I would get hurt as a teenager my dear sweet lovely younger siblings would start singing “Ding dong the witch is dead.” Yep, they loved me!
- Jaws — Don’t remember how old I was when I saw this. But after seeing it {without my parents knowing no less} I couldn’t even swim in a swimming pool without getting scared that a shark would come out of one of the filters, let alone a lake, river, or ocean! In fact, it still scares me.
- Scream, along with every other scary movie — wish I would have never watched it/them… ew, ew, ew!
- Napoleon Dynamite — I seriously do not get the humor in this movie. Well, okay, I get the humor, I just don’t find it humorous. Bleh! It was pure torture to watch the whole thing. I’ve been told to give it another shot… Bleh again. Bleh, bleh.
I’ve been tagging so many people lately that I’m gonna let you all off the hook.. Well, all of you except for Regina. Tag, Regina! However, I’d still love to hear what your 5 least favorites are, if you have a second!!! Leave them in the comments, or blog about it and leave a link. I’m curious!
Now, I think I am going to go start working on my closet–don’t hold your breath for pictures though… It’s quite the project! I will be back later to post a picture for the April Shower of Photos… I’m leaning on tagging along with Dawn’s theme, things that make me smile, since that is what I usually take pictures of anyways. See you soon!
Hahaha…
I love your explanations for all those! Especially the Wizard of Oz
How saaad :O lol.
Well probably my 5 LEAST favorite movies, would be…
Like you, i HATED watching 1. E.T! It really freaked me out. lol.
2. The eye…Which i saw in theatre..probably because prety much EVERY scene led you guessing what was gonna happen next.
3. Okay this is really sad, but that one cartoon you have of “The Hobbit” just scared me ALOT the first time i watched it. (Nightmares about Gollum lol)
My two last movies…4. Jeepers Kreepers 2 (groooss!) and 5. Dinosaur (every single time i have watched that, even in theatres, ive gotten sick!) Like motion sickness or something?
P.s LOVE THE PICTURES BELOW!!
If i get my camera, i’ll do it! 🙂
I may post about this too…because I’m all about downgrading my cool factor.
Um…so I am sorry to say that I loved ET. I think my mom and I watched it twice in a row at the theater. I loved the Wizard of Oz and could sing ALL the songs. I sometimes sing “Wake up you sleepy heads rub your eyes get out of bed” to get my kids out of bed in the morning. I wanted to BE Dorothy. I also loved the musical Wicked because the music is AMAZING and it’s the story of the Wicked Witch before she became known as “Wicked”. And, sorry, I enjoyed Napoleon Dynamite too.
Jaws scared me too and still does. I don’t like scary movies at all but that one sucked me in a few times when I was younger. Bleck. It’s amazing how much scarier even a bath is after that!
Never seen Scream. But I did see Maximum Overdrive when I was a youth and it scaried me like crazy. I was afraid of anything electric killing me. Nice visuals. Bleck again.
I’ll have to think about this some more and then post mine.
Well, I was with ya until Napolean. I really like it…but I like stupid humor. 🙂
That being said, my number 5 would have to be Anchorman. Normally I love Will Farrell (for the stupid humor…but this one just didn’t do it for me)
Critically acclaimed movie that I agree is absolute excellence….
Life is Beautiful (subtitled)…a must see!
This was very fun to read. Learned a lot about you.
I agree JoAnn the cartoon version of the Hobbit IS scary! We haven’t let our kids watch it, and most likely won’t. I want them to read the books first any ways. I haven’t seen the others you mentioned, thankfully!
Seems like everyone I know LIKES Napoleon Dynamite. I just don’t get it!!
Christie ~ Hubby rented Anchorman once, and we didn’t even watch the whole thing. I forgot about that. I HAVE seen “Life is Beautiful”, and it was a WONDERFUL movie! In fact, we own it. 🙂
Yep, some of those movies are lame. ET was like a giant rat and movie critics suggest that Wizard of Oz is a mockery of Christianity. My least favorite were: 5. Christmas with the Kranks 4. Pearl Harbor 3. The Grinch (Jim Cary) 2. Flags of our Fathers and 1. Titanic or should I say ‘Satanic’.
I hated napolean dynamite too! I hate stupid movies…lol
I also cringe at the titanic, I didn’t think it was that good at all. Also, for our 10th anniversary we went a late movie, but everything was sold our except 1408 that John Cusak thriller….terrible. It ruined the whole night…lol
I’ll have to think of the others on my bad movie list.
Thanks for sharing
Hi Jessica,
Since I am a movie goer I love this Meme. I will follow up on my blog soon.
My you have been busy decluttering! I bet it feels so good to have less stuff!
Once I bounce back from jetlag/illness I too will be a busy bee purging our household of unwanted goods.
God Bless and Have a great weekend!
Kathy
You know, I hated ET too! Completely scared me. His freaky voice and glowing finger… and when he got sick… EWW! I will be quite happy to never see that film again!
I never saw the scary movies, I had to give those up. I will dream about them.
And NP… it was funny, kind of? But not really… just kinda dumb.
So I don’t think your cool factor got dented too much! Since most of us seem to agree with you! 🙂
