My sister stopped by earlier this evening… While she was here she referred to me as “Super Woman!” Now this is definitely a step up from her last visit when we were talking about gas prices and she said “back in your generation…” Sheesh! OK, I am 10 years older than her, but what a way to point it out!
Anyways, we were talking about my wild and crazy active children, and she said, “I’ve always wanted to be a mom, but GEEEZZZZ!! How do you do it! Your like Super Woman! Do you think it is worth it??”
No… I am not Super Woman… I am just Super Tired.
It has been a long week. The kids were sick with colds earlier this week, which they decided to share with the baby and I. Last night, our little one started crying at just after 10pm, and he didn’t stop till I put him in the car this morning at 8:30am to go see the doctor. The diagnosis was, as I feared, an ear infection. The poor little guy has been so miserable. He is finally resting with the help of Infant Tylenol. (I should be too — but I just couldn’t help getting online!)
Is it worth it? Yes, children are hard, but given the option, I wouldn’t change a thing. Actually, an inexpensive babysitter and a dish washer would be nice, but you know what I mean.
An interesting thing happened today that really made me think about how blessed we are with FIVE kids.
An older woman stopped me while we were in Costco. She started counting my kids, “One… two, three… foouurrr… FIVE!!! Oh, my goodness!! You sure are a busy mom! FIVE kids?!” I nodded and smiled. I hear this, or some similar version, every time I am out with my kids, so I expect it. However, I wasn’t expecting what she said next. She looked at me and said, “You know, it’s hard now, but you will be so happy later. The one thing I regret in my life, is that I didn’t have more children.”
HOW SAD IS THAT?!?
I am thankful tonight that I will never have to look back on my life and regret not being open to children, even though tonight, I am SUPER TIRED!
I am off to get some much needed rest! Good-night!
Sweet story! Hope you get some rest. Get ready to party tomorrow night 🙂
You are a great mom! And it is worth it!
You bet it’s worth it.
The memories alone when you’re older brings joy to the heart.
I had 5 too and wish I’d had more.
It’s kind of crazy when they’re growing up, but it ends all too soon.
Hope everyone’s feeling better by now. It’s nice that they learn how to “share” but, ….. colds and flus..??? The “sharing” stops here.
Bea AKA grandma
We have had the same week I think!!
