In addition to cupcakes and jello, we also made some delicious Red, White, and Blueberry Skewers to take with us to a 4th of July barbecue, with an excellent view of the fireworks!
All I did was get everything ready to go and my kiddos got busy creating various red, white, and blue patterns with the Strawberries, Marshmallows, and Blueberries. Captain made a few, and so did Twinkle Toes (before heading back to finish decorating her cupcakes), but Rascal and especially Chiquita *loved* making them! She just kept going until every last berry was used.
They turned out very colorful and didn’t last long at the barbecue!
We’ll have to remember these for next year since they were such a hit!
Cute!
My brain is suffering a premature death I think because I never think of things like this! How cute!
your skewers look great. I had posted abunch of ideas on my blog with the intention of actually doing this one, but the day just got away from us. Hopefully next year. How do you manage to do so much. I guess my excuse is we were organizing my kids new room and setting up their new furniture, but wait you were doing that too, times four. Well, I was also getting ready for a birthday party this weekend too. That can be my excuse. Sorry for the long comment. Hope you're doign well.
Those look so yummy and Chiquita looks adorable making them!
What a good idea! They're pretty!
Those are gorgeous! Good memories.
How fun!!! I will have to remember these for the future!
We used strawberries and blueberries to celebrate, too – we put them w/ yogurt into popsicle molds. And then we forgot to eat them at our cookout… probably because we had two other desserts! 😉
this looks fun. I am going to use it for another night!!
Dear Jessica,
these look good enough to have more than on one day a year. I'll file it for our Summer, a while away yet
i am totally stealing this idea for next year. but i know i won't rmbr! Ugh!!!
where do you keep ideas you get from other places/blogs?
Shelly ~ If you come up with a good way of remembering, let me know!!! I need to come up with a system too. =(
Those are darling, and healthier than most desserts! If only there were white fruit to replace the marshmallows. 😉
Katie ~ Perhaps yogurt covered raisins would be a good alternative?? =)
