From this Coloring Book (while listening to this CD!)
~ Picture Book Science :: D is for Dinosaurs ~

I had a basket full of dinosaur books from both the library and our own collection.  However, I wasn’t the one to read them. The boys really enjoyed reading them to the girls this week, which was nice!

Other dinosaur fun that we enjoyed:

Reading Rainbow: Buried Treasures (Digging up Dinosaurs)

Dinosaur Fact Files and Worksheets
Color by Number Dinosaur
Discovery Channel Dinosaur Page (My children especially enjoyed the games!)

Wee Sing Dinosaurs
How to Draw Dinosaurs And Prehistoric Life
Leap and the Lost Dinosaur (On Leap Pad)

We read about David in Letters from Heaven: An Illuminated Alphabet and colored this picture.

D is also for Divine Mercy,  so what a perfect week for our first Little Flowers Meeting of the year!!

~ D is for DePaola ~

At bedtime this week we read and/or compared pictures in lots of our Tomie DePaola Books:

The Night of Las Posadas
The Story of the Three Wise Kings
The Clown of God
The Legend of the Poinsettia
The Holy TwinsThe Parables of Jesus
The Miracles of Jesus
The Lady of Guadalupe
Christopher: The Holy Giant
Francis: The Poor Man of Assisi
The Knight and the Dragon
Mary: The Mother of Jesus

~D is for Draw Write Now ~

My children LOVE all the Draw Write Now books.  You can purchase them individually, however the Draw Write Now Boxed Set of all eight books is awesome.  The boys have been using these for a couple years now, but Twinkle Toes really started enjoying them this past week!

Now, if I could just figure out what to do with the hundreds of drawings I have piling up around here! 😉

~ D is for Dolls ~

Twinkle Toes’ received The Flower Fairies Activity Book as a gift from her Godparents last year and we thought this was a perfect week to cut out the Flower Fairy Paper Dolls!  (The book also has lots of other fun activities too!)

~ D is for Decoupage ~

I was so excited when I found a packet of Cecily Barkers Fairies, to Decoupage, at Michaels.  This was our first attempt and we had so much fun!

~ Serendipi-Tea time ~

D is for Decadent Donuts!
“D” week was Delicious!!!

  1. Katy

What fun!! Not to be picky, but it looks like Twinkle Toes is actually signing the letter F in that picture. F is thumb and index finger together, all others in the air. Where as D is index finger in the air with all others touching the thumb.

  2. Blair

How fun! Lots of great ideas! I love the decoupage project (I'm going to go broke at Michael's this year, even with the coupons!), and the donuts look delish! Thanks for the handwriting site, that looks like a wonderful website! We're looking forward to D week next week 🙂

  3. Jessica Gordon

Katy ~ Thanks! I'll take the photo down so as not to embarrass her.. Rascal had mentioned that to me last week and I had totally forgotten when I was uploading the pictures. I should probably watch the videos with the children occasionally. =)

  4. Julie

Jessica, Thank you so much for taking the time to post these. I love to see the alphabet path come alive.

  5. Aimee Landreneau

I am so glad you are documenting all of this! We took this week off as we had so much going on, so we'll pick back up with E next week.

Did you ever get the CD from the Alphabet of Saints? Just curious…I was thinking about getting it and wanted your opinion.

  6. Jessica Gordon

Aimee ~ I have NOT been able to get ahold of them… I've tried calling a number of times (I wanted to ask more about the homeschool discount) and I just get a recording that their inbox is full… =( I need to keep trying.

  7. Anonymous

I'm not watching your posts any more because I HAVE gained weight just looking at them …….no kidding…oooough…..it all looks so delicious! yummy……I am going out to buy some donuts right now! lol

  8. Aimee Landreneau

I just emailed you about the CD site…go dig it out of your inbox!!! LOL!

  9. Amy Caroline

Awesome Jessica! I love the decopage (or however you spell it, lol)! I was trying to think of something and I was afraid of drums….

  10. Angela

This all looks like so much fun . . . I wish my kids were little again!

  11. Party of Eleven

This is great! We're also *trying* to stay along the alphabet path. We've done A-D and are on E now, although I've been stalling to see what you come up with! We also made the doughnuts for D week which we made for my daughter's 9th b-day breakfast 🙂 I love how big your daughter's eyes are looking at the doughnuts! You are doing a fabulous job, Momma! Truly an inspiration 🙂 Take care and God Bless~

Quick question—is your Museum ABC book kind of small?? Your picture that the girls look at of the art print seems so BIG! So, did you just enlarge and print at home somehow or do you buy the prints somewhere else. Inquiring minds want to know 🙂 I'm actually doing the ABC path with my 12ds, 10ds, and 8dd. I change it up a bit, but we are all loving the time together. Your pics inspire and inspire!!! Thanks for all the time you put into your journal entries and pics.
    Teresa in VA

  13. Jessica Gordon

Teresa ~ I have been printing the images, using Elizabeth's links (sometimes I have to search around a bit for the actual picture, since the web is constantly changing) and then I print them on 8×11 cardstock and choose "fit to page" in my printer options, enlarging the picture to the full size of the paper. This has been working out really well for us. Hope that helps!!

  14. Mom2Seven

Thank you for documenting your weeks in such detail. I am a seasoned homeschooler (we're into the college years with some of our children), but I love to see what other moms are doing and am always open to new ideas. My 15-year-old daughter enjoys looking at the blogs with me as she works closely with her younger siblings and even my nephew, who we are homeschooling this year. Excellent blog… Also, thanks for sharing about your "bad" day. It helps other mothers to know that they are not alone in their day-to-day struggles… especially when we are all trying so hard to do everything well for our children. JMJ

  15. Erin

Oh my, those donuts look so GOOD!!!!!!! And so horrible for my waistline, ha ha!

  16. Jessica Gordon

Erin ~ Yes, I think the Alphabet Path has really affected my waistline too, although it's been a little hard to tell at the moment. 😉

  17. Angela

Just wondering where you get the prints for your picture study? I was just going to print any of them I could find, but it takes so ink and never looks as clear as ones that are purchased. Thanks for more inspiration with D week!

  18. Jessica Gordon

Angela ~ I actually haven't purchased any of them… I've just been printing them out using Elizabeth's links. I haven't had a problem yet with them not being clear enough, though I am sure I am using LOTS of ink! =)

  19. Gae

    Dear Jessica,
How quickly you are going through the Alphabet. So much fun. The girls look to be achieveing so much. Well done.
We have just finished week A if you wnat to have a quick look. I really enjoyed it and so did the girls. However it has only taken us 3 weeks. Hopefully we will be able to do 1 letter each week from now on.
    God Bless

  20. Shelly

thanks for that site 'religiocando' it is awesome for Catholic coloring pages.
    you're the best!

  21. Amy

Thank you so much for all of this!!! It is such an inspiration 🙂 I was wondering if you still had the St. Dominic coloring page as a file, the site no longer has it!!! I was so sad to find this out. Thanks again!

  22. Jessica Gordon

Yes, I do happen to have that coloring page saved in my Alphabet Path Downloads. If you send me your email address I will forward it on to you. 🙂

  23. Joy

I'm doing the alphabet path with DD4yo this year and we are having a blast! Thank you for making it so simple for us by providing the links!

Can I ask for a copy of the St. Dominic coloring page too? Thank you so much!

  24. Jessica Gordon

Joy ~ Send me your email address (it doesn't seem to be linked to your profile) and I will send you the coloring page. 🙂

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
