In Honor of St. Thomas Aquinas

A few pictures from Yesterday

I remembered that I had purchased a little packet of five Lindt Chocolate Angels after Christmas, on clearance… What a perfect treat in honor of the “Angelic Doctor!!”

A bit of reading and tea for me!

Yes, I am now have 4 different books that I am currently reading… To quote Karen Andreola, “The habit of grown-ups reading “living” books and retaining the power to digest them will be lost if we refuse to give a little time to Mother Culture. A wise woman–an admired mother and wife–when asked how, with her week physical health and many demands upon her time, she managed to read so much, said, “Besides the Bible, I always keep three books going that are just for me–a stiff book, a moderately easy book, and a novel, and I always take up the one I feel fit for.” That is the secret: always have something “going” to grow by.”

The girls baked star shaped sugar cookies since “the star, St. Thomas Aquinas’ symbol, signifies the divine guidance given him in his work.

More cookies!

In addition to the stars, the girls also used a mini angel cookie cutter.

What do you think? Do they look more like angels or doves? Either way they work just fine since, in addition to being called the “Angelic Doctor,” the dove is another symbol for St. Thomas Aquinas!

The boys loved coloring the “Comic Page” from A Year with God.

What a great addition to their notebooks.
I’ll have to remember to pull these out more often!

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas

Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you, and a hope of finally embracing you. Amen.

They look like little angels to me…although doves work as well. Either way they look delicious.

What a wonderful celebration you had! I think The Quiet Light is my favorite Louis de Wohl and I think of it every time I see a picture of a giraffe. 🙂

Christine ~ The link takes you to the actual page for the book that this “Comic Page” was from. It IS an expensive book, though I do love all the Liturgical Year ideas it has.

If you are looking for some Catholic Comic books, I HIGHLY recommend Know Your Mass, The Sacraments, Life of Christ, and Life of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They were originally published by the Catechetical Guild in the 1950’s and they are EXCELLENT! My boys LOVE them!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
