My Daybook ~ April 29, 2009

FOR TODAY: April 29, 2009

Outside my Window… it’s chilly and rainy. Not at all like last week, and it looks like the rain is going to continue through the weekend… We were able to light a fire in the fireplace last night which was nice. I just love cozy fires on rainy days!

I am thinking… about everything I need to do tonight, to get ready for tomorrow. This will be the very first time I have been away overnight without any of my children since Captain was born almost 9 years ago! That is, unless you count brief overnight stays at the hospital due to pre-term labor… Personally, I don’t think that counts. 😉

I am thankful… that hubby was more than willing to take tomorrow off work, so that I would have the opportunity to go to this year’s Northwest Catholic Family Education Conference. I really am looking forward to being motivated and inspired by all the speakers!

From the kitchen… lots of easy meals planned out for the weekend. Hot Dogs, Fish Sticks, Chicken Nuggets and Hamburgers. My children will be in heaven!

From the school room… I was hoping to have next year’s plans all lined out before the conference, but that didn’t happen. I’ll be lucky if I have the rest of this weeks plans ready for hubby! lol!

Living the Liturgical year at Home… We are still celebrating the Easter season using with the Garden of the Good Shepherd. Today is also the feast of St. Catherine of Siena, and we will be having Pasta Santa Caterina for dinner tonight. Rascal has also been putting the final touches on his St. Joseph Lap Book this week (which he started back in March) in preparation for the feast of St. Joseph the Worker on May 1st.

I am creating… a menu for our Little Flowers’ Tea Party in 2 weeks.

I am going… to have so much fun this weekend traveling to WA with Erica and Marci, staying with Regina, seeing lots of friends, and meeting my cousins for dinner Thursday night! Nevertheless, I am sure that I will MISS my family!

I am reading…. lots of picture books about George Washington and the weather to my children.

I am hoping… that the blood work I had done yesterday comes back with reassuring results.

I am listening… to the sound of the washing machine. One more load and it will be all caught up, until tonight.

Around the house… there is lots to be done, so I need to get off the computer!! To all of you that are waiting for responses to emails, I’ve been spending less time on the computer lately, and I just haven’t been able to keep up with all of the correspondence. I’m sorry! I’m trying to catch up a little bit at a time. I think this is the first time I have my inbox down to only 108 emails!!! I’m catching up! 😉

One of my favorite things… the new little Adirondack chairs that were dropped off last week by the same sweet little old man from church that made us a couple picnic tables last year. (I posted a couple pictures below… Aren’t they adorable?!)

A Few Plans For This Week

Let’s see, I still need to pack, charge the camera battery and my cell phone, get my hair cut tonight, and clean the house… Then I will be “off” for the weekend!! Is it Thursday yet? 😉

A picture thought I am sharing:

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
