Santa Lucia Day

by | Dec 14, 2009 | Advent and Christmas, Kids Artwork, Liturgical Year, St. Lucy | 7 comments

Saint Lucy, you did not hide your light under a basket, but let it shine for the whole world, for all the centuries to see. We may not suffer torture in our lives the way you did, but we are still called to let the light of our Christianity illumine our daily lives.

Please help us to have the courage to bring our Christianity into our work, our recreation, our relationships, our conversation every corner of our day. Amen.

Darling! I had my Little Flowers group make St. Lucia Crowns for our last meeting, St. Lucy.
I've been going out of sequence in LF to coordinate with the saint's feast days and I sure do miss following your lead.
You continue to be in our prayers.

    Thank you both!

Lena ~ Last year we made St. Lucy crowns at our December Little Flowers Meeting too, and, had I planned a meeting for this December, we would have done the same this year! =) It's such a perfect project for the little girls and they LOVE making them! I sure miss having our Little Flowers meetings… March is starting to seem like a long ways off, but I am sure I'll be thankful for the break as soon as the baby arrives. =)

I really like how you lit candles on the crown like cake. I used battery powered street lamps from a Christmas village for the bun tray for Holly. This was her first year and she of course wants to do it again:)

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
