Shower of Photos 2009: Day 21 (Cinnamon-Sugar Bread)

by | Apr 22, 2009 | Recipes, Shower of Photos | 7 comments

No matter how many times I tried, I could not get this bread to look anywhere near as good in the pictures, as it tasted!  It may not look that special, but this little loaf of bread that we made, for one of our Garden of the Good Shepherd Activities yesterday, was the yummiest bread we have ever made in our bread maker.  In fact it was so delicious and easy that I made another loaf last night to have with breakfast this morning.  Yum!

Cinnamon Sugar Bread

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons yeast

  1. Place ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer.
  2. Bake using the sweet bread setting if your machine has it, if not, use white bread setting.
  3. When the bread is done, remove from the machine and let sit on a rack for 10 minutes before removing from the pan. (If it sticks, just loosen the sides with a pliable, plastic spatula and it should slip out easily.)

Yields: 1 1/2 pound loaf

Can this recipe be made somehow, if one does not have a bread machine???

Catherine ~ I looked through the reviews on Recipe Zaar and found the following:

“This is really tasty bread. I do not own a bread machine so I made it the old fashioned way. I did find the dough to be extremely sticky and therefore had to add more flour…quite a bit more in fact, over a cup. In light of this I added in an extra tsp of yeast and made it into 2 nice loaves. I kneaded by hand for 10 minutes. The first rise took about 1.5 hours, and the second nearly the same. Then I baked at 375 for around 30 minutes. In the end, it was lovely good bread that was gobbled up quickly by my family.”

“I don’t have a bread machine so I made this with my mixer with the dough hook. I doubled the recipe and I increased the cinnamon to 4 tsp. in total. Next time I will use a touch less sugar as DH finds the bread sweet. I can only imagine how great this will be toasted or as French Toast.”

    I hope that helps??

I just want to add that the bread machine really does make it simple — it took about 5 minutes to add the ingredients and turn it on. =)

What kind of bread machine do you use? I’m in the market for one, but I have no idea how to choose one!!

Jennifer ~ I don’t know if this is much help, but I have a “Breadman Plus”. It was a wedding gift nearly 10 years ago, so I have no idea what is on the market now. Good luck in your search!
