Spreading a Little Love :: Pay it Forward

by | Feb 28, 2009 | Uncategorized | 19 comments

I recently agreed to take part in the Pay it Forward gift exchange… Not only will Regina be making me something, I get to spoil three of you with something handmade too! Okay, maybe I shouldn’t say spoil you, since I can’t knit or crochet, and I can barely sew, but I am sure there must be something I can make… I just haven’t decided WHAT yet!

:: The Rules ::

I will send a handmade gift to the first three people who leave a comment to this post on my blog requesting to join this Pay it Forward Exchange.

All the gifts will be made and mailed out “sometime within the next year“. How exciting to not know when your surprise package will arrive!

What you need to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

This Exchange is only open to those with active websites or blogs.

:: Added Bonus ::

After I have three people who want to play along, I am also going to randomly select a fourth person to send something to, so you don’t have to worry if you aren’t the first, second or third to comment (or if you don’t have a blog) – there is still a chance! Since this person will be randomly selected, they will not be obligated to participate in the Pay it Forward exchange {perhaps they could opt to commit a random act of kindness for someone in their day-to-day life instead}.

UPDATE: It looks like I will be sending something to Aimee, Eileen, and Erin! Thank you for playing along! Please email me your mailing address, and remember to pass it forward on your own blogs!! My kiddos will draw a name for the added bonus {4th giveaway} on Monday, so the rest of you have all weekend to add a comment, if you’d like.

Another Update: Cathy, could you also email me with your address? Your name was drawn for my bonus “Pay it Forward” gift!! =)

    Oooh, oooh! I want something you made!!! I’ve seen all those cute saints dolls and felt stuff you make, and I’m no fool! (Condolances will definitely be needed for the three to whom I pass this on, however …)

    Did I comment on time???? 🙂

    Great Job… getting your three filled!! Now if only people will head on over and sign up on my lonely Pay It Forward post… Perhaps I needed to entice with a fourth item made for a secret someone… hmmmm. Yes, I think that I WILL use your idea and add that in!! Wooo Hooo… thanks for that!! Then some of those folks who read my blog, but don’t have a blog would have and opportunity to play in a different kind of way! Thanks bunches, Jessica!!

    PS – you are so silly. You had your 3 PIF Exchangers signed up within two hours after you posted your PIF. Mine has been hanging out there for 2 days and 2 hours with no takers! So, if any of you reading Jessica’s blog comments wanna play but got here too late… sign up here to get her #4, but if you really wanna play – come on over and sign up on my blog! 🙂 I added the #4 bonus, too!! So, follow the trail and perhaps you’ll find a place to play, too!!

    I thought of an exciting way to pay it forward as the 4th person. You could consider sending something for our pro-life Hope Pregnancy Center!! If you are inspired to make something a baby could use then I’ll get it to the gifting closet. fun.mom.cheratgamildotcom

    Darn it! I don’t know what I would make, but I know what I would like from you (hint, hint): A little set of painted saints! Perhaps my family’s patrons? I’ll bet others would like that, too!

    Can you throw my name in the drawing? 🙂 We love seeing all your crafts! It’s great to get ideas for when our Maggie is older.

    LOVE the whole idea of paying it forward in general no matter how it is accomplished. Pay it forward should become another golden rule really, the whole idea of giving without necessarily expecting in return. Very fun. Very sweet. For the three winners, do let us all know how this crafty fun turns out over time okay? Just sit back everyone and imagine the possibilities from the trickle effect of this invitation! Thanks Jessica! God Bless everyone!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
