Celebrating Pentecost, the Birthday of the Church :: 2012 Edition
Holy Spirit, come and shine
On our souls with beams divine
Issuing from your radiance bright.
Come, O Father of the poor,
Ever bounteous of your store,
Come, our heart’s unfailing light.
Come, Consoler, kindest, best,
Come our bosom’s dearest guest,
Sweet refreshment, sweet repose.
Rest in labor, coolness sweet,
Tempering the burning heat,
Truest comfort of our woes.
O divinest light, impart
Unto every faithful heart
Plenteous streams from love’s bright flood.
But for your blest Deity,
Nothing pure in man could be;
Nothing harmless, nothing good.
Gently shed your gracious rain
On the dry and fruitless soul.
Heal each wound and bend each will,
Warm our hearts benumbed and chill,
All our wayward steps control.
Unto all your faithful just,
Who in you confide and trust,
Deign the sevenfold gift to send.
Grant us virtue’s blest increase,
Grant a death of hope and peace,
Grant the joys that never end.
Amen. Alleluia!
Happy Pentecost Sunday!

Prayer of Mothers
Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.
We have that same table & chairs. : ) Made me want to go check my back yard for a piece of cake! 😛
What a beautiful family and beautiful cake! Wonderful feast day…Happy Birthday from a fellow Catholic!
Looks lovely Jessica! We made some Holy Ghost mobiles of sorts and are planning on making the tongue of fire cupcakes here this week now that we are back from vacation. God bless!
Your cake looks delish!!!
Your cake is beautiful! Did the children help with the baking? I hope to spend an afternoon with my sweet grandsons and celebrate Pentecost with a craft as they have wheat allergies among many others.
What a beautiful cake and gorgeous children! Their eyes are so vivid in color. You obviously had a wonderful Feast of Pentecost celebration.
No, they didn't. We had a busy day on Sunday – since we traveled out of town for Mass and then went out to eat on the way home – so I decorated the cake quickly myself. Have a great time with your grandsons!
such a simple, yet beautiful cake…
THANK YOU FOR BEING A GOOD MOM AND EXAMPLE TO CATHOLICS EVERYWHERE.

What a lovely cake 🙂 But you forgot a candle. We should add a thirteenth candle for the Blessed Virgin Mary, the spouse of the Holy Spirit!
