Back to {Home} School Giveaway :: Homeschool in the Woods Publishing

by | Sep 4, 2014 | American History, Connecting With History: Vol. II, Giveaway, History, Lap Books, Timeline | 0 comments

To celebrate the new school year I’m hosting a giveaway each day this week (September 1st-7th) featuring educational products and books! Today’s giveaway is sponsored by Homeschool in the Woods!

Our children love studying History thanks to all the great books and supplements we have used over the years including many of the products from Homeschool in the Woods.  Just this morning one of the boys pulled out his History Through the Ages “Record of Time” to add an illustration and entry for “Julius Caesar Assassinated” after reading the story of Julius Caesar in Famous Men of Rome.

If you flip the page you can see some of the timeline entries he added the last time we studied New Testament and Early Medieval History with Connecting with History. It’s always so fun to look through their individual timelines!

This year I plan to once reuse the New Testament Lap Book Printables from Homeschool in the Woods (along with our Connecting with History book lists and lesson plans) with the girls, since they were too young to create the New Testament Lap Books with their brothers back in 2010. (Look how small the boys were back then!)

We have also used (and loved!) the lap book printables from the Time Travelers Series for American History!  Here are the links to our posts of all the boys’ American History Unit Studies and Lap Books including: New World Explorers, Colonial Life, America Revolution, The Early 19th Century, The Civil War, and Industrial Revolution-Great Depression. They keep asking when we are going to finish their World War II Lap Book to add to the collection!

Homeschool in the Woods has recently started creating a new series of Lap-Paks for Kindergarteners-2nd Graders beginning with the Knights and Benjamin Franklin Hands-On History Lap-Paks!

Knights Lap-Pak: The Middle Ages was an era of kings, queens, castles, and of course… knights! But what did it take to become a knight? …And what did they do? Discover the world of knights, from their beginnings as a page and squire to the knighting ceremony! Learn about Crusaders, weapons of warfare, the Code of Chivalry, and much more!

Benjamin Franklin Lap-Pak:  The Benjamin Franklin Lap-Pak takes a look at this “Renaissance man” through reading text and hands-on projects that reinforce lessons in creative ways. Included are 12 lap booking project topics that incorporate coloring and drawing, as well as basic cutting skills and opportunities for penmanship for younger elementary students…

I’m so excited to make these new Lap Books with my little ones when we get back around to studying Medieval and American History.  Homeschool in the Woods has offered to giveaway one downloadable copy of each to my visitors here at Shower of Roses!  Two names will be chosen, the first will receive a copy of Knights and the second will receive a copy of Benjamin Franklin. Good luck!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
