Roses in the Snow {A Brand New Picture Book!}

by | Dec 15, 2014 | Books, Picture Books, Saints, St. Elizabeth of Hungary | 8 comments

We are celebrating a sweet little girl’s 5th birthday today!  I can’t believe my little “Rose” is already five years old… How did that happen so fast?!?  I’ll be back later with pictures from our party, but in the meantime I wanted to share one of her birthday gifts with you all.

This sweet book about St. Elizabeth of Hungary was just released on December 6th and would make a lovely Christmas gift! It was written by Dessi Jackson and Illustrated by Lydia Grace, the same author and illustrator of Saint Felix and the Spider, and it is beautiful! I can’t wait to read it to my children! You can order it from Amazon here.

Update: The publisher has audio pronunciations for the Hungarian words in the story! Visit then click on “Roses In The Snow” On the bottom left hand side of the page you will find the pronunciations for nagymama, édesem, kifli and kalács!

    This Missouri Synod Lutheran and mother of one adult child really likes your blog. It is probably a good thing that I don't know your address as I might show up and spend a year reading all your neat books!!

    Happy birthday to Rose! What a great book! We are blessed to have a Hungarian bakery in town and I'm celebrating my own name day with treats from there!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
