Neuschwanstein, The Fairytale Castle

by | Oct 21, 2015 | History, Puzzles | 1 comment

Neuschwanstein is a 19th-century Bavarian palace on a rugged hill near Hohenschwangau and Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner, the King’s inspiring muse. Although public photography of the interior is not permitted, it is the most photographed building in Germany and is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations. Today Neuschwanstein is one of the most popular of all the palaces and castles in Europe. Every year 1.3 million people (6,000 per day in the summer!) visit “the castle of the fairy-tale king”.

After sharing the pictures from Ranger’s Metal Earth Neuschwanstein Castle the other day, I remembered that I never did share the pictures I had taken of the girls putting together a 3D Puzzle of this Fairytale Castle! Twinkle Toes had received it as a Christmas gift from her Christkindl and all three of the girls worked on putting it together last fall. She still has it displayed in her bedroom!

Ohhhh the "New Swan on the Rock" as I remember it being called when I lived in Germany…Both of the Neuschwanstein Castles built by your son and your daughters are magnificent Jessica! They have such talent and great patience to build such wonderful pieces of art! They have artistic ability like their Momma! Perhaps your girls know that Disney's Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom is modeled after this beautiful Bavarian Castle, along with several other unique western and eastern European Castles. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit King Ludwig's Schloss Linderhof (Linderhof Palace) near the Ettal Abbey in Garmisch, Bavaria. The architecture was so amazing and the furnishings were exquisite! And…the gardens… were as incredible as the unique design of his castle. It is wonderful that your children have discovered this European architecture in these special gifts. Thank you for sharing these photos..they brought back special memories for me when I was living in the Fairy tale land of Germany in the 1970's…

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
