The Easter Story {LEGO Edition}

by | Apr 15, 2015 | Easter, Lego, Lent | 17 comments

Ever since 2009 when our oldest two boys were just seven and eight years old (they are now thirteen and fourteen!) they have put together a Playmobil Way of the Cross during Holy Week. Last year, instead of pulling out the Playmobil, the boys created LEGO scenes for Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday. This year they expanded their original creations and came up with additional scenes for Palm Sunday and the rest of Holy Week as well. I took lots of pictures to share! Everything is made with LEGO from their collection, including the “purple robe” (from this minifigure) and the “INRI” letters on the cross!

.: Palm Sunday :.

The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, crying, “Hosanna! Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”
John 12:12-13
.: Spy Wednesday :.

.: Holy Thursday :.

.: Good Friday :.

Then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him. And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns, and put it on His head, and arrayed him in a purple robe; they came up to Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck Him with their hands.
John 19:1-3

When Judas, His betrayer, saw that He was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, saying, “I have sinned in betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.” And throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed; and he went and hanged himself.
Matthew 27:3-5

So they took Jesus, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew Golgatha.
John 19:17

There they crucified Him, and with Him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. Pilate also wrote a title and put it on the cross; it read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.”
John 19:18-19

When Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing near, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.
 John 19:26-27

When Jesus had received the vinegar, He said, “It is finished”; and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
John 19:30

Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb where no one had ever been laid. So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, as the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
John 19:41-42
.: Holy Saturday :.

.: Easter Sunday:.

    Hi Emma,

The Lent and Easter Lego scenes in this post were created by our son using his collection of Lego and his imagination! They didn't come from sets. 🙂

Sorry I don't have any links to share! God bless!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
