This morning we visited the cemetery for our 11th annual
All Souls’ Day Mass. Our oldest son has been serving for this special Mass every year since he was 6 years old. This year was the first year our oldest three boys all served this Mass together. This is one of the ways our family remembers and prays for the dead during this month dedicated to the Holy Souls.
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
Prayer of Mothers
Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.
Looks like a glorious day for an outdoor Mass. The picture of your son with the priest's hand on the back of his head is absolutely precious. We had plans on attending a special Mass last night (the first our parish has ever had), but ended up not being able to go. My husband was trying to fix the sliding door on our van and it ended up falling off. Sometimes life gets in the way.
