Courage, dear heart :: Narnia vaLENTines

“But no one except Lucy knew that as it circled the mast it had whispered to her, “Courage, dear heart,” and the voice, she felt sure, was Aslan’s, and with the voice a delicious smell breathed in her face.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
With St. Valentine’s Day falling on Ash Wednesday this year, Chiquita decided to pass out a quote from her favorite book series, along with a pre-lenten treat and promises to pray for each of her vaLENTines.  She picked two of our Rycraft Cookie Stamps and a gluten-free peanut butter cookie recipe.
Unbelievable Peanut Butter Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup peanut butter • 1 cup sugar • 1 tsp vanilla • 1 egg
Directions:
Mix all ingredients well. Form one inch balls and place on engrossed cookie sheet. Stamp with cookie stamp. Bake at 350˚F for 10-12 minutes.

While she had the cookie stamps out, she also made a batch of Cream Cheese Candy.

Our original St. Valentine’s Day Mailboxes have been too small the last few years (some of the kids bring HUGE valentines) so she quickly decorated a new “mailbox” using one of the coloring pages from her Chronicles of Narnia Coloring Book

"Chronicles of Narnia" is my favorite book series too. What a great idea! Your kids do such creative things. Bravo!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
