State-by-State Baking :: Pennsylvania – Hershey’s Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies

by | Oct 27, 2022 | State-by-State, State-by-State Baking | 5 comments

“M is for Milton Hershey,
the finest chocolatier around.
Crowned the “Chocolate King” in later years,
he created a Chocolate Town.”
Years ago her older sisters baked a Chocolate Breakfast Cake when they were studying Pennsylvania, but last month Rose decided on something more decadent… Hershey’s Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies! She is getting so proficient in the kitchen and made them all by herself after her younger brother finished making his Philadelphia Soft Pretzels earlier that morning.

Pennsylvania – Hershey’s Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies

Ingredients:

  • 10 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3/4 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Hershey’s Cocoa Powder

For the Cream Cheese Center

  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • pinch salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 6 Full Sized Hershey Bars to top
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper long enough to hang over on two sides, making it easier to remove from pan once baked. Spray pan and paper.
Her cute retro apron was part of her costume for her sister’s 19th Birthday party this past summer… I really need to share that party with you all. It was another Murder Mystery party and so much fun!
In small saucepot over medium heat, or in the microwave, melt chocolate and butter until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.

In a separate bowl, beat eggs, vanilla with the sugar. Slowly add in chocolate mixture until well combined.
In small bowl, sift together cocoa, salt and flour.

Add mixture to rest of batter. Do not overmix. Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
For the cream cheese filling:
Beat ingredients together until smooth. Pour over brownie batter and evenly spread on top.
Bake 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, or until just set and toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Remove from oven and immediately top with full size Hershey bars. Let melt and spread evenly. Cool completely.

It is SO wonderful to see you blogging again — I am a long time reader and follower. I still do a double take sewing Chiquita as the oldest of your homeschoolers when she was number four for so much of your blog. Our oldest is 24 and our youngest is eleven and we’ve been following your blog since the eldest were little!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
