Our little guy pulled out one of the gifts he received last Christmas to play with this afternoon… Perfect for today’s feast!

Prayer of Mothers
Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.
Our Family
A Little About Me
Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.

Happy Martinmas! We hope to do our lantern walk tonight. It was too cold here last night.

That first photo of your son reading the book to his siblings is magical. What an awesome photographer you are! The lantern walk, the warmth of your table – just beautiful!

What a beautiful ceremony. I never knew St. Martin of Tours was celebrated in this way. Very nice. Marion

We added that book this year – was so happy to have stumbled upon it a couple of months ago! We also create the beggar scene with our Playmobil figures/horse each year, too! And little Lindt chocolate truffles for desert after dinner (but no goose!). Looks like a lovely feast day you all had!

You always have such beautiful pictures!

This is the recipe I've been using: https://thecuriouscoconut.com/blog/perfect-paleo-… (for the fat I've been using Epic Duck Fat – but I'm now out and it has been on recall…) I don't include the peas and add extra carrots and celery. It is really good! I want to buy some disposable mini-pie pans, make a big batch, and try freezing some for later.

It is wonderful that you share this tradition with your children for Martinmas. While living in Germany many years ago I witnessed the German children walking with their lanterns in the early evening of November 11th in our community. It was magical to see. Long ago I believe St. Martin's Day was the first day of Advent when Advent was 6 weeks long (in my ancestral land of Poland it was). The photos of your children are precious. The new book looks like a wonderful story. Love the wood carved toys!
