Our Irish Baby’s…
We had a very fun, full day! I was so disappointed that I forgot my flashcard at home today, but Regina had her camera, so hop on over to her blog to see a cute slide show from this afternoon. The kids had such fun playing Bingo, Petting animals, and breaking Blarney Stones.
After our party, since it was late, and we were still in town, I swapped cars with hubby (so he could take the kids home), then Snuggles and I got busy running errands. It took longer than I hoped, but I’m so happy that my shopping is done, and all the kids Easter treats have been purchased!
Today is also my dear father-in-law’s AND my brother-in-law’s birthdays!!
Now, to get those groceries put away…
When Irish eyes are smiling…
In honor of:
“St. Patrick was captured by some bad people. Then he was a shepherd for six years. Then escaped, but then the sailors said, “no, we won;t take you.” But when the dogs wouldn’t stop barking the captain said, “Oh, all right.” So Patrick went back home. Then he had a dream and heard “come among us again, please Patrick! please Patrick!” So he went back to Ireland to teach about Jesus. St. Patrick was also a bishop.” ~ Captain
“St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He told people about God, by using the shamrock to tell them about the Blessed Trinity. He made all the snakes go into the ocean. I like St. Patrick because I’m Irish! (big grin!) ” ~ Rascal
“I wike St. Patrick, and even I wike you! Momma, can I please do Spelling Time, cause I know what the letters are!” ~ Twinkle Toes
“This is mines. It’s St. Patrick. See the snakes, momma. I don’t like snakes.” ~ Chiquita
Monday of Holy Week
Today is a busy day in our home! I am Spring Cleaning, then we have a St. Patrick’s play date (even though his feast was suppressed) with friends this afternoon, then I need to head to the store and pick up a some more Easter Eggs–which is totally awesome, we are now very close to hitting $2000–then it’s back home for more cleaning and a light dinner.
Starting today and for the rest of Holy Week our family meals will be very simple, though still nutritious and filling, to add to the sacrifice and help us to become more aware of the austerity of this week — in addition to giving us more time for praying, cleaning and preparing for Easter.
Before I get back to work, I wanted to share this link to a great Detailed Cleaning list in case you are busy Spring cleaning too! It is from Flylady, and is in pdf format. I printed it off and customized it for home.

- Make a Spring Cleaning list of things that need to be done the next 3 days
- Finalize plans for Holy Week
- Watch movie with hubby (It’s SUNDAY!)
- Get lots of rest so I can be ready to start that cleaning tomorrow!
Things to remember for next year:
Possibly make this Palm Banner… It is so neat!
Add some sort of Fig/Date dish to our Menu, since today is also known as “Fig Sunday.”
Hope your all having a wonderful day too! I’d love to hear what you did with your family!
Egg-cellent!!!
You all are totally amazing!! Just look at that basket!! From day one you have exceeded all my expectations with your generosity to the Easter Hope Challenge for the Hadley’s! I have received so many donations, ranging from small to large. Many of you have left donations with out even leaving a comment (I added you to the raffle just the same) and yet others have even donated their chance at winning the basket to the Hadley’s as well! Every single dollar makes a difference, and right now we currently have $1735.00 to give to the Hadley’s!!! Isn’t that just Egg-cellent!!!! 🙂
I want to take a second and thank all the other bloggers that have help me spread the word, including: Danielle Bean, Amy at Knit Together in Love, Regina, Christine at Memories of a Catholic Wife and Mother, Sarah at My Three Little Monkeys, Christy at The Happy Hunting Ground, One Came Back, Laura the Crazy Mama, and The Philosopher Mom, to name a few.
Well, there is still a few days left to claim a chance at winning your choice of a few cool baskets! Wouldn’t it be great if we could come up with another $265.00, and hit the TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR mark? I think we can do it!! Just think, it would only take 26.5 of us donating $10, or better yet, only 11 of us donating $25 each! So, if you haven’t yet, and can possibly spare even just a few dollars, please click that donate button and join in the Easter Hope Challenge.
Irish Names
FYI… The feast of St. Patrick was also moved to March 15th this year. Being Irish, we actually have been doing a variety of St. Patrick crafts and reading quite a few St. Patrick and Irish books this past week in his honor. I just haven’t had a chance to post any pictures… But, I did take this little quiz to see just what my “Irish name” is — not that it isn’t Irish already. 😉 So, I’m going to post the results for you all!
Your Irish Name Is… |

While I was at it, I thought it would be fun to see what the rest of the family came up:
Hubby is: Aidan Murphy… OK… I’m rotflol!! He is going to love that one!! 😉
Captain is: Donal Duffy
Rascal is: Padraig Power
Twinkle Toes is: Alannah Maguire
Chiquita is: Ella McCarthy
Snuggles is: Gavin Keane
I would love to hear yours!!! Please leave it in the comments if you do the quiz!
UPDATE: FWIW, don’t miss dh’s response over at his blog! HHVF!
“On a side note, Shower of Roses thought it was ROTFLOL funny that I got Aidan Murphy. So instead of going into a panic with TRDMF, I took the SWAG quiz myself and got Cyril Barry. NALOPKT Barry means ‘fair haired’ NTTAWWT, but since I’m not I breathed a great big sigh of relief to discover that the RMV. So instead of thinking ONNTA, I’m LQTM. OAO“
Solemnity Feast of St. Joseph
O St. Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.
O St. Joseph do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my Thanksgiving and Homage to the most Loving of Fathers.
O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen
How can you NOT love Country???
Trace Adkins “You’re Gonna Miss This”
I heard this song on my way home from a friends home tonight. I LOVED it, even though it did make me cry… Crying can be good, right?
When I got home I had to listen to it again, and while I was at it, I thought I would share it with you all.
Here’s the chorus for those that can’t stand country music 😉
You’re gonna miss this
You’re gonna want this back
You’re gonna wish these days
hadn’t gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you’re gonna miss this
Hearing it reminded me of my post this “morning“…
As long and hard as some of these days are, I know I’m going to miss this.
Now.. I am off to bed, so I will be well rested in the morning!! Good night!
