My little Stinker Snuggles!
In Honor of Our Lady of Fatima
We had a fun afternoon yesterday, celebrating the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. First we watched The Day the Sun Danced: The True Story Of Fatima while I baked some mini Dancing Sun Cupcakes. After that I read my children the story of Our Lady of Fatima
by Father Lovasik, while they colored this beautiful coloring page.
After that, I gave in and let them watch one more movie, The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima, so I could get back to my book!! 😉 Which, I might add, I started and FINISHED yesterday — that is, if 2am this morning counts as yesterday! I’ve been totally hooked to this series
!
She Loves It, She Loves It Not
I saw this game idea in my last issue of FamilyFun and thought it would be such a great game for out tea party. We played it in between the girls looking at the tea tray and writing down what they remembered.
A bouquet of flowers can do more than brighten a room: used in this activity, they can spark some intriguing conversations. One player holds a daisy (or another flower with lots of petals) and plucks off one petal as she names something that her mother or daughter loves. The next player shares something her mother or daughter loves — not. The flower continues around the table, with mothers talking about their mothers and daughters, and daughters talking about their moms, until the flower runs out of petals.
Here are some pictures I took during the game:
The Tea Tray Memory Game
Preparation:
Find a selection of interesting small objects and arrange them on a tray, which you should keep covered with a tea-towel until you are ready to play the game. Vary the number of objects according to the ages of your girls. Give each child a pencil and paper and ask them to write their name at the top. (We gave the pencil and paper to the mothers, and the mothers wrote down the items they remembered.)
Play:
Uncover the tray and place it where all the girls can see it. Give the girls a certain amount of time to memorize the contents of the tray, then cover it up again. (In between letting the girls look at the tray and then writing down what they remembered, we played another game to make it a bit more challenging. Even so, most of the girls remembered around 12 items. Isn’t that great!)
Setting the Table for Tea
In between each course of our tea, while the servers refilled the trays, we had a game (or two) for the girls. The first game we played was loaned to us by the older Little Flowers’ group, and was very fun!
The object of the game was to see, while blindfolded, who could set the table for tea correctly. To make it a bit more challenging, many of the card stock images were the same size and shape — either circle or rectangles. (I had to print out a couple missing pieces, so here are the links to a few of the images we used: Sugar Bowl, Creamer
, Plate/Bowl
, Tea Cup
— there was also a fork, spoon, and floral centerpiece. )
Our Little Flowers’ Tea Party ~ The Menu
Of course my favorite part of our Little Flowers’ Tea Party was all the delicious food!! I seemed to be given a little reprieve from my awful nauseousness and was thrilled to actually be able to eat and enjoy all the goodies!!
Since Marci was busy enough planning the decorations, I took care of the menu assignments… Each mother was given one or two menu items to provide (depending on whether she has one or two girls in the group) and it all worked out heavenly!
Lemonade and Ice Water
(Chiquita ended up having a little bit of tea with her sugar!)

My friend Trina also volunteered to coordinate and supervise the servers for us, and we were served by four very sweet girls who are also all Little Flowers! (Two are Trina’s daughters and two are older sisters to one of our own Little Flowers!) Thank you all so very much for your help!!
P.S. Kathleen, do you think you can email me your scone and lemon curd recipes, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! I’ve been having some serious cravings for them since the tea party!! Yummmmm!

Our Little Flowers’ Tea Party ~ Decorations
I’ve been wanting to share some pictures from our Little Flowers’ Tea Party with you all, but I just didn’t know where to start!! There is just so much to share! =) I’ve decided that it will probably be easiest to break it up into a few posts, so I thought I would start with the decorations!
One of the other moms agreed to host the party at her home, and she did an amazing job! She has such a lovely collection of china and her beautiful backyard made a perfect location. We were also blessed with additional decorations and supplies which were loaned to us by my friend Trina who has been hosting a tea for her Little Flowers’ group (of older girls) for the past five years. Not to mention, the weather was perfect!
My girls were up bright and early getting ready to leave for the tea. They could hardly wait!!
Extras were provided. 😉
(We hadn’t added the menu at this point.)
My 2nd Blogoversary!
As of today I have been blogging for TWO YEARS!! I can hardly believe that it has already been another year…Where does the time go??
Last year, I posted a few thoughts and reasons why I have grown to love blogging so much. Not much has changed, but I didn’t want today to go by without telling all my dear visitors thank you once again! Thank you for your prayers, advice, encouragement, and friendships. You all have been such a blessing and have made blogging such a joy! May God reward you!
