April Shower of Photos :: Day 24
I thought for today’s photo, since it happens to be my brother Sean’s 28th birthday, I would upload a photo from when we were kids.
It looks like I have very few pictures of Sean… This one was taken back when my parents had only the 3 of us… Me, Jennifer and Sean… and mom actually had our pictures taken! It is old (like us!) and scratched up, but I thought it was cute just the same.
Dragon Cakes for St. George
You must check out all the awesome dragons inspired by the totally creative Waltzing Matilda :
First you must go see Matilda’s own dragon, that she made for this year.
Then hop over to Knit Together in Love to see Amy’s.
After that, don’t miss Jamie’s at Lord, Make me a Saint. (Thanks Christine for the picture!!!)
OH! And you can see Tracy’s cake over at Pinewood Castle!
Aren’t they all so cute?!? What a pity to slay them!
My little brothers joined us for dinner, and helped dispose of our dragon! We had a blast! Thanks boys!!
If you posted about your St. George celebration, leave me a comment… I’d love to see it!

New Slogans
I’ve seen this quiz, or rather Slogan Generator, at a few different blogs today. I just loved seeing their new slogans, so I had to give it a try myself.
Here’s what I was given:
| Your Slogan Should Be |

Too funny!!!
I then decided to type in Catholic Cuisine, my new group effort food blog, just for fun… It was so fitting, I just had to post it too:
| Your Slogan Should Be |

So, what should your slogan be?
By George, it’s time to celebrate!

Today is the Feast of St. George! Did you know, that it is also Shakespeare’s 444th birthday?! With all this ENGLISH celebrating going on, what are your plans for today?
Here is a look at what our day has in store:
- It is rainy outside… Perfect English weather!
- My boys have pulled out there swords and armor to reenact St. George and the Dragon.
- Our Dragon Cake is all ready to slay this afternoon during teatime!
- We will listen to “Saint of the Day.”
- Read Saint George Saints Lives & Illuminations
, Page 12 and St George Picture Book of Saints
, Page 34
- We will discuss St. George and the Dragon. (Hubby read it to the kids at bedtime last night.)
- The kids will color a picture of St. George. (We will use the one from Fenestrae Fidei, but here is an online coloring page too!)
- Listen to a Midsummer Night’s Dream, a Homeschool Radio Shows special.
- We will also have an Awesome Owl Snack, and add the owl sticker to our Garden of the Good Shepherd poster, as we celebrate the 50 days of Easter.
- And for dinner, we will have English Fish n’ Chips.
(I used up all of the red food coloring on Chiquita’s ladybug cake… So his spikes and flames look like Mustard. ewww… I didn’t have Hershey kisses either, so I used Junior Mints for eyes/nose. It is no where near as cute as Matilda’s, but my children are super excited, just the same!)
Whatever your plans, I hope you have a very
WoW ~ Week 8
So depressing… In TWO MONTHS, I had only been able to lose 5 pounds, and to top it off, this week I gained one of those pounds back! Argh… Not even my usual measly half a pound! It’s all Regina’s fault for inviting us to Cold Stone. If only I could follow her example, and turn down the ice cream. But then again, it’s just so yummy!
I really don’t want to talk about it so here is the summary 😉
- Week five progress: +1 pounds
- Total lost in WoW: -4 pounds
Goals for this week:
- Try to accomplish last weeks goals. 🙂
- And LOSE 3 pounds. (The one I gained this week, plus two more to make up for lost time…) It can be done, right??
Head over to Regina’s to see everyone else’s results.
April Shower of Photos :: Day 22
In Preparation for the Feast of St. George

Head on over to Catholic Cuisine for a few
whose feast day is tomorrow!
Our cake is ready to be frosted, as soon as I make the frosting. Yum!! My boys are SO excited… they can’t wait to slay the dragon!
Birthday Highlights!
Coffee Time
Aaahhh, peace, at last!! I finally have a little computer time. I’m sitting here with a deliciously warm cup of coffee, on this snowy April day, sorting through and organizing my digital photos while the kids play with Lincoln Logs and Tea sets in their rooms.
I seriously can’t believe how many photos I have taken since we bought our first digital camera. I do love having the benefits that digital photography provides, but one draw back, at least for me, is that I never seem to get the pictures developed!!! It’s horrible! I think I have had maybe a couple dozens pictures printed since Oct 2005! Maybe I should set a goal… Sort and develop one months worth of photos each week?? What do you think? What do you do?
It is so fun looking through these older pictures. Such wonderful memories! I can’t believe how much the kids have grown!
Anyhow, back to my coffee… The other day when I was waisting time over at Blogthings I got to hear just “what my latte says” about me… Thought now would be a good time to share:
What Your Latte Says About You |
![]() You are interested in only pure and simple pleasures. You don’t like to pollute your body or mind. You can be quite silly at times, but you know when to buckle down and be serious. You have a good deal of energy, but you pace yourself. You never burn out too fast. You’re totally addicted to caffeine… but you like to pretend like you aren’t! Yep, that’s right… Gotta pace myself on dealing with the photos… And, Yes, I am addicted to coffee, even though I don’t like to admit it! Off to get another cup! 🙂
