Today was the Solemnity feast of our beloved Saint Joseph, patron of the Universal Church, fathers, and families, to name just a few! To celebrate, the children and I created our first real (we’ve made the Cut-and-Color Altar a couple times now) St. Joseph Altar! The boys worked on shifting the furniture around to make room and finding/setting up the tables, while the girls shaped symbols out of bread dough. I made spaghetti for dinner, which we topped with sawdust (breadcrumbs), and two of my sisters stopped by to join us as well!
It was so much fun and a great way to learn a little more about our heritage. (Though they are mostly Irish (with a little Spanish), our children do have a dash of Italian left in them from my Great Grandfather!)
Be sure to head over to The Virtual St. Joseph Altar’s Blog Fest to see how other families honored St. Joseph this year.
Looks great! I'm praying that I'll be better prepared next year to celebrate with an "edible" altar.
This year I decided to celebrate this Solemnity with work (Lenten cleaning). After all, St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of Workers, right!?! : )
Not to worry, we also spent the day in prayer and play. The children love their St. Joseph matching card game.
We had a blessed day!

Beautiful!!!!
Jessica – What a gorgeous altar. Love your wine choice!
you're strawberry trifle looks amazing. Is there a significance to that dish (color red???) or just a family favorite. great job on the altar.
How beautiful Jessica! You celebrate so well! That strawberry trifle looks expecially yummy!!
Very, Very nice. My middle son attends St. Joseph High School and they have St. Joseph Day complete with Mass, the table, and fun activities all day. I couldn't help but notice the lovely wedding pictures that seem family tree style. You are an amazing gal and inspire me to do more. I would love something like that, but can't imagine getting around to do it. I am hoping Rose is totally fine. She looks like the picture of health. From Janet in Western PA.
Thank you everyone!
Robina ~ The only significance to the Strawberry Trifle is that it is S week and the girls had a blast Slicing Strawberries and putting together this dessert! 😉 It's not even an Italian recipe… Oh well! It IS super delicious though!
Jan ~ Yes, the wedding pictures are indeed our family tree! Hubby and I are in the middle, with our parents on either side of us. His Grandparents are above and mine below. I was able to obtain copies of all the portraits shortly after we were married and was very excited to be able to do so.
Yum! We've never done a St. Joseph altar either…maybe next year. I have not a drop of Italian in me, and neither does my husband….but I do love the food.
Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems.

Correctly your article helped me altogether much in my college assignment. Hats incorrect to you post, intention look audacious in the direction of more interrelated articles in a jiffy as its anecdote of my choice topic to read.
