Little Flowers Girls’ Club Tea Party Games

This coming weekend we will be having our annual Little Flowers Girls’ Club Mother-Daughter Tea Party! Having completed all four wreaths last year, I did take this year off from coordinating and hosting Little Flowers for my girls, but we’ve decided that we still wanted to have the tea party.  A dear friend of mine, whose daughters were/are in the older Little Flowers group, has generously offered to host our tea this year at her home, using all the decorations from her daughter’s groups annual tea party the day before!!!  This simplifies things incredibly for me!   I’ve already sent the invitations and assigned the food to the various girls (and Mothers) who will be attending and my girls will be wearing their Easter dresses, hats and gloves.  So that just leaves me with the games, prizes, and favors to plan.

I’ve spent some time this afternoon looking though all the games we have played in the past and thought I’d round them all up into one post.  At our tea parties we always take a short break to play a game or two in between each course, while the servers refill the trays for the next course.   This year we will be having a four-course tea so I need to decide on 3-4 games.   If the weather is nice we might be having a maypole this year, which would take care of one of the games.   Here’s what we’ve playing in the past:

in addition to Setting the Table for Tea (played blindfolded)

(You can also find a Wreath II Word Search Here)

Would you all help me decide?   This year we will have a group of about 13 girls ranging in age from 6-13, along with 6 mothers.  It would be great to include a new game or two, so if you have any suggestions or ideas for me I’d love for you to leave them in the comment box!

A Brand New Release from the Benedictines of Mary

Remember the beautiful Advent at Ephesus CD I recommended during Advent?  Well, the dear sisters at the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles have created another inspiring collection of music featuring 17 English and Latin pieces sung a cappella on the feasts of the holy Saints and angels throughout the year:

Monica from De Montfort Music sent me an email this afternoon asking if I could help promote this new CD.  She described it as “breathtaking” and “so gorgeous that I am certain I have just heard the sounds of Heaven!”  I’m more than happy to share it with you all, and already pre-ordered a copy to give to my mother, who happens to be a Benedictine Oblate, for Mother’s Day on May 13th!  *I hope you’re not reading this mom! 🙂

The funds from the sale of this CD will assist the sisters in alleviating their remaining debt, helping them get closer to building their much needed permanent monastery.  Plus. if the pre-order number is high, this music will be more widely available upon it’s release showing that there is a commercial need/demand for truth and beauty in art.

*Feed readers may need to click through to watch the video.
Angels and Saints at Ephesus, will be released next month on May 7th, but we can help support the sisters by pre-ordering a copy today!

On Divine Mercy Sunday

Let our judgment of souls cease, for God’s mercy upon them is extraordinary. ~ St. Faustina

This afternoon, following the completion of our Divine Mercy Novena, the children had so much fun decorating “Divine Mercy Cookies.”  They were so simple, and yet very much enjoyed.
I hope you all have had a very blessed Divine Mercy Sunday!

How happy I am to see myself imperfect and be in need of God’s mercy.
~ St. Therese of Lisieux

On Easter Morning {Our 2013 Easter Baskets!}

I just love Easter!  As unorganized as I was this year, everything still came together thanks to the preparation from year’s past… I pulled out the children’s Easter Baskets and liners, our “Alleluia” mantle letters along with a few other simple yet beautiful decorations, and placed the baskets of candy filled Easter Eggs on the coffee table ready to be hidden by daddy (and whoever else wanted to help hide) after our Easter Dinner.  We woke up early and attended the 8am Mass on Easter Morning.  Mass was packed and we ended up sitting in the old choir loft, which was interesting…  Still, Mass was beautiful and after we returned home the children were all so excited to discover (finally, after one quick picture!) what was inside their Easter Baskets!

This year they were blessed with baskets full of books, thanks to the incredible generosity of so many!  I feel so very blessed!  Since we were all are still fighting the cough from that last cold I didn’t include very much candy – there was still plenty with all those filled eggs –  but the baskets did include some other religious items, something for their patron saint, a mini puppet (representing new life), and a small toy, along with a few other random items.  I always have so much fun filling the baskets!

Since some of you have been asking, in our family the children do know that the baskets are filled by their Dad and I…  We’ve never incorporated the “Easter Bunny” into our celebrations.  We do have a great out of print book that ties the Easter Bunny into the real reason for Easter though!

Anyways, even though I already shared my plans for the baskets with lots of links I will list them here as well noting the various changes and additions.  The five oldest, and my husband as well, all received beautiful handpainted bookmarks of their Patron Saints from The Fig and Thimble.   All of the children, except for Bud, received a Rosary Case (purchased with credit from Apron sales at Catholic Cuisine!), and a new beautifully embroidered Scapular.

Captain’s basket included the following six books/DVD: AblazeA Soldier Surrenders, Giant of the Western Trail, Crusader King, Outcast, and The War of the Vendee (DVD). He also received a Cardinal mini puppet, the Lego Architecture Space Needle, a few lego minifigures, a bag of jelly bellys, some chewing gum, and a chocolate egg.

Rascal’s six books included:  Letters to an Altar Boy, Painted Saints, A Book of Angles, Father Damien and the Bells, The New Kid (Tales of the RAF), and Shadow in the Dark (since Bank Robbery! was on backorder). He also received a Robin mini puppet, an Eagle Creator Set (doesn’t it remind you of the eagles in LOTR?), a few lego minifigures, a bag of jelly bellys, some chewing gum, and a chocolate egg.

Twinkle Toes was very excited to discover Caroline’s accessories!  I had ordered them last year along with the Caroline doll, but saved them for her Easter basket. just giving her the actual doll for Christmas.  She also found a new hairbrush, some white gloves to match her Easter dress, a set of colored gel pens for writing to her pen-pals, jelly bellys, chewing gum, a little chocolate egg, and a darling Fawn mini puppet.  Her books included Saint Helena and the True Cross, Saint Clothilde (already finished! she loved it!), The Mitchells: Five for Victory, Prairie Thief (also already finished and loved it too!), Traitor in the Shipyard (currently reading and enjoying), Easter Crack-ups (silly little book, but the kids have all had fun with it!), and Easter Eggstravaganza Mad Libs (which, after I explained how Mad Libs worked and did one of them with the children, has provided hours of fun and laughter!).
The girls also each received a gorgeous new chapel veil!  These, too, were purchased with store credit from Apron sales at Catholic Cuisine!!  The girls are so very excited to have “grown up” veils now, rather than the ones they have been wearing for years that tie under their chins.   I do need to make them some sort of pouch, or something, to store their veils in between Masses – rather than just tossing them into the Mass bag with everything else.  Any suggestions? Perhaps a Satin Favor Bag

I did end up keeping Lily’s Easter Party.  Even though I wish the wording was different when referencing the Last Supper and the initiation of the Eucharist, it was easily corrected with a little white-out.  We also have the same problem with our Benjamin’s Box book.
In addition to Lily’s Easter Party (read already), Chiquita also received Kitchen Madonna, The Three Trees: A Traditional Folktale (read already), Clare’s Costly Cookies (She hasn’t read this yet, but Twinkle Toes has and was very excited about it!), Secret in the Hills (currently reading), and I can’t tell you how many times they have asked to re-watch St. Bernadette of Lourdes.  The children ALL loved this movies by Navis Pictures and can’t wait to watch Captain’s tonight!
Like Twinkle Toes, she also discovered a few accessories for her doll along with a new hairbrush, some white gloves to match her Easter dress, a set of colored gel pens for writing to her pen-pals, jelly bellys, chewing gum, a little chocolate egg, and a darling Lop Ear Bunny mini puppet.  Oh and she also found some seeds for our Garden from St. Clare’s Seeds!  We need to start making garden plans soon…
Snuggles loves Brother Hubert – though he has named his doll “Brother Francis Xavier.”  He also loved the little red dragon mini puppet to go along with his new Knight’s City Pop-Up and The Adventures of Sir Lancelot the Great, which Rascal is currently reading to him!   I went slightly overboard choosing books for Snuggles’ basket and he also discovered The Christian Alphabet Book,  Whales Snails and Heavenly Tales, Tin Cups and TinderGod is Wonderful Catholic Coloring Book,  Fox and Crow are Not Friends, Inch and Roly Make a Wish, and Inch and Roly and the Very Small Hiding Place tucked inside!   He also found a few lego minifigures and city motorcycle, a bag of gummy bunnies from Trader Joes, and a chocolate egg.
Rose loved her new veils!  The older girls chapel veils have seen better days and it was time to replace them.  Rose was very excited to find a new white veil and one that was PINK-UH too!
She also loves, loves, loves, her new scapular and rosary case!
I did not end up including Tell Me about the Catholic Faith: From the Bible to the Sacraments.  I pretty much never purchase a book without reading at least one review on it and made an exception for this book, with it being marked down 45%… I expected better from Ignatius Press.  This is a perfect case of “you can’t judge a book by it’s cover” and we sent it back.

She also found the Calico Critters Koala Family, a Sheep mini puppet, and a box with the beginnings of her Alphabet of Saints Blocks… Perhaps we can finish them together! 😉

Bud had fun digging though his Easter basket this year, even though he wasn’t feeling well, and of course he went right to the board books, particularly the touch and feel books!

His basket included The First Easter Day (A Touch-and-Feel Book)MossySunny BunnyI am a BunnyThe Tale of Peter Rabbit: A Pop-Up AdventureAn Easter Prayer.  He also found Jack Rabbit and Turtle mini puppets, and Father Martin!  I also found a couple more board books at Costco which I squeezed in as well: Easter Surprise and Show Me Your Ears which seems to be his new favorite!

This year’s Family Easter Symbols Basket was also a hit!   It’s always so much fun to have the children figure out which gift item matches each symbol.  This year we had a A Cross Shaped Puzzle for “Cross.”  In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb – since Easter fell on the last day of March this year – for “Lamb.”  The “Lily” was represented by a copy of The Lily Cupboard to be used for history.  the Spring Angel Egg completed our collection of these beautiful eggs for the “Egg” symbol.  We also had a box of Godiva Butterfly Truffles (from Target) and a Butterfly Cookie Cutter (Walmart Clearance) for “Butterfly.”Super cute  peacock stacking blocks for “Peacock.” And a 3-D St. Peter’s Basilica Puzzle, which was the most difficult to guess since I incorporated “the Bells fly to Rome until Easter” for this symbol!

I think this post wraps up all the pictures I had hoped to share from our Easter celebration. Click here to see pictures from this year’s Family Picture, Easter Egg Hunt, Decorating our Easter Cakes, and Seven Quick Easter Takes!

Wishing you all a blessed Divine Mercy Sunday!

A Couple More Bargain Priced Books

I noticed that many of you seemed interested in my last Bargain Book post, at least according to all the copies of Saint Louis and the Last Crusade purchased through my link – thanks! Our copy already arrived! Originally published in 1958, it looks wonderful! The old re-published books are almost always my favorites… Anyways, I thought I’d share a couple more book deals I ran across this past week. I’m always watching for the extra great sales to stretch my homeschool book budget as far as possible! 😉

Alexander the Great by Demi is currently 75% off and is one of the recommended titles for our Ancient History Study next year!

Joan of Arc (also just $5 for the hardcover with prime!) is also on it’s way to our home and will eventually find a place on the shelf (after Chiquita’s birthday) with all of our other saint themed picture books.

We already own The Legend of St. Nicholas, Mother Teresa, Mary and The Empty Pot by Demi, and we all love the beautiful illustrations in these books, so I think these will make a nice addition to our collection! (Note: These are not currently discounted to 75% off.)

And speaking of deals I also noticed that Shadow in the Dark, which Rascal received in his Easter Basket has dropped to 44% off!  He has already finished reading it and is wishing he had book 2 of the series, The Haunted Cathedral which is also 44% off… He needs to loose a tooth or something so I can slip it under his pillow.  His birthday already passed and Christmas is still a long way off!   However, at the rate the weeks are flying by this year, it will be here in no time…

I’m off to marinate the hamburgers for dinner…
I know it’s Friday, but we are still Celebrating the Octave of Easter after all!
 Have a great weekend!

Seven Quick Easter Takes

I’ve already posted some Easter pictures in my Daybook post, my {pretty, happy, funny, real} post, and some from Our Annual Easter Sunday Egg Hunt, but I still have some more to share as I slowly find time to sort through all the pictures from last weekend!  I still need to go through the pictures from the children with their Easter Baskets, so I’ll save those for last.  In the meantime here are a “7 Quick Takes” from Easter Sunday!

— 1 —

I ran out of time to create a new Paschal Candle this year, so I peeled off last year’s “2” and reshaped it into a “3”…  It wasn’t anywhere near perfect, but it worked, and still looked pretty.  I love decorating beeswax
— 2 —

Our desserts were kept very simple this year (i.e. we skipped our usual Lamb and Cross Shaped Cakes) but they still looked pretty!  The girls really enjoyed decorating our oval Easter Egg cakes – this year they were Italian Cream!  Yummm!!  They also made their usual Bird’s Nest Cookies
— 3 —

… in addition to the Paska and Pascha.
I also remembered to pull out our beautiful Pysanky Basket Liner.

— 4 —
Remind me to ask my sister-in-law to bring something other than “fruit” to our next get-together!  Apparently she thinks that it is all that my mom and I trust her with… Sorry Meagan!  You just do such a beautiful job with the fruit…  How about next time you bring the Lamb cake?! 😉

Everyone loved my mom’s potato salad when I was growing up – it was what she was always asked to bring – and I had been missing it lately.   I guess my kids had never tried it before and Captain has already asked if he can have “Grandma’s Potato Salad” on his birthday.  I’ll have to see what I can do about that!

— 5 —

Of course our picky little Snuggles didn’t care for either of the salads and stuck with Golden Easter Punch and dinner rolls…
— 6 —

  This Easter JoAnn went to Texas to spend Easter with Mary.  Jennifer, Sean, Jamie and her family, Paul, and all of my husband’s family all live out of state as well.  My little brother Kevin was away competing in a Golf Tournament in Arizona.  So that just left my mom and dad, sister Julianna, and brothers David, Scott, and Brian and his family here for Easter.  My Aunt Bridget and Uncle Shawn also joined us!  It was still nice, though I am looking forward to the year when all my siblings can be together again for Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Easter… It’s been so long!

— 7 —

The kids have been having so much fun looking through all the new books they found in their baskets!   I meant to post the pictures yesterday, of them looking through their baskets, but I got a little distracted.  (I will soon!) Instead I spent most of my own free time planning out our curriculum for next year, making lists of the books we still need, and taking advantage of Adoremus Books Easter Sale to order a few of those books!  (However, even I have found time to sneak away and start reading one of the books from my basket!)

Thanks, Jennifer, for hosting… Praying for you!!!

{pretty, happy, funny, real} :: Easter Edition

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life. ~

{pretty}

Lots of pretty Easter Eggs, even if they are plastic!  Bud enjoyed helping me fill them the weekend before Easter, just before we headed over to the coast, when I probably should have been getting our Easter clothes together.  At least the Eggs were all ready for our Easter Sunday Egg Hunt!

{happy}
Rose was very happy to get to help the girls decorate our oval “Easter Egg Cakes” this year!
{funny}
Random spots you might find “hidden” Easter Eggs at a Catholic home…
I can’t even tell you how many times the kids all walked past the egg on St. Francis’ statue!
{real}
How do you like my Cheese Pascha Blob?
Um… yeah… it didn’t really turn out like I had hoped!
It was absolutely delicious though, so we will be giving it another shot next year.
At least our (first attempt) Paska turned out beautifully!  I posted the recipe at Catholic Cuisine.
We also had an earthquake here just after 5:30pm (Wednesday).  It wasn’t very strong but we all felt it as it shook the house… I really hope that doesn’t happen again!
Visit Like Mother, Like Daughter for more pictures of contentment.

Our Annual Easter Sunday Egg Hunt

I was so happy that it stopped raining long enough to have our annual Easter Sunday Egg Hunt outside, especially since next year the big boys are going to help hide eggs instead of hunting for them…
How are they growing up so quickly?!  I want them to slow down… I’m not ready for teenagers yet!!!

The girls, however, are very excited that they’ll have an better chance of finding the “golden egg” next year, without the big boys to compete with!  And the boys are excited to help hide it for a change!

I’m not complaining about the rainy weather, too much…  Out here you often hear the phrase “If you don’t like the weather, just wait an hour.” I know some of you still have freezing temperatures and snow. I definitely prefer rain-boots over snow-boots in March and April!
Snuggles and Rose enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt as much as ever!

We never know what to expect from this little one…  She can be as sweet as can be, but also has a temper to match!  I’ve never had a child throw temper tantrums like she can, just like the dear saint she is named after. Wow!   Anyways, after an intense and emotional Holy Week, she was in such a fun and happy mood on Sunday.

Bud still wasn’t feeling better, but he enjoyed playing with a few plastic eggs during the hunt.

“Daaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!  Daaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
 He had seen his Daddy walk by and wanted to let him know that he opened his egg!
The kids loved that their little cousin joined us again this year,
 and wish that their 10 other cousins didn’t live so very far away!
Happy Easter Wednesday!

An Eastertide Daybook: Christus Resurrexit!

Happy Easter!

Outside my window…
After a sunny and gorgeous week the thunderclouds and rain arrived on Saturday night… I was so glad it cleared up long enough to hide eggs outside for our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday!  Of course I made them all put on rain boots before letting them off the porch.  It was/is muddy out there!

I am thinking…
as much as I loved (and needed) our little vacation to the coast, it really threw me off for Easter, not having last weekend to prepare.  Of course at the last minute the dress I had bought was too short (I had  returned it and ordered another online for less – same dress, but apparently quite a bit shorter) and I had to scramble to figure out something else to wear, and I could not find that adorable bow tie I had bought for Bud… Where did it go?!   Oh well… Also, spending all that time baking bread, followed by Captain’s allergic reaction left me fairly unmotivated for Saturday.  I did get to the store, make a butter lamb, Pascha for with the Paska, bake a couple simple oval cakes for the girls to decorate Sunday after Mass, fill the baskets, set the table, and the girls made the birds’ nest cookies, but that was it (though still plenty, right?).  We did not dye eggs, make resurrection cookies or rolls, bake a lamb cake, or anything else for Easter.  Thankfully Easter is a season and we still have time to do those things sometime soon!

And just when I was thinking that I’d try and talk someone else into hosting Easter Dinner next year I looked up the date… Chiquita will be celebrating her 9th birthday on Easter in 2014 (and then her golden birthday – her 20th – on April 20, 2025!) so I guess it will be another party at our place!  That should be interesting… I wonder how hard it will be to convince her to opt for an Easter party theme?! 😉
  A quick family picture taken at the end of the day, following Mass, dinner, and the Easter Egg Hunt… As I said on Facebook: “Probably should have taken a family picture at the beginning of the day, instead of at the end!” but there you go…  Don’t you just love the expression on Snuggles’ face and his little tie!

I am thankful…
that Captain is doing much better!  Thank you all for your prayers… He is still on Benadryl, for the allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin, but his hives and swelling have gone down and he is feeling a little better each day.  I’m also thankful that he did get enough of the antibiotics to clear up the staph infection and won’t be needing anymore.  As for me, I too, had another allergic reaction last night that nearly put me in the ER.  So thankful for Zyrtec!  I have got to find a way to get these allergies under control…

Learning all the time
As much as I would love to take this week off, we do have some school work that needs to be completed to wrap up our 3rd quarter this week.  I’m so proud of how hard my children are working to check off those boxes!

Celebrating the liturgical year
I love that Easter is a season!  We still have lots of time to celebrate and do all those things we weren’t able to fit in over the weekend (i.e. dying eggs, etc).  We did take a break from the Lenten Teas this year and we are also going to be taking a break from our Garden of the Good Shepherd Garden Parties.    The children are actually excited to try a few new things (starting with the Paska) this year!   You can only add so many new things, before having to that a break from some of the old traditions… at least for a year or two to switch things up a bit, right?

From the kitchen…
toasted Paska (Sweet Bread) with Pascha (Sweet Cheese Spread) and coffee.  I’m very much enjoying Easter and this little break from trying to lose weight.   Mmmmmmmmm…. so yummy!

I am working on…
getting our chores and school work completed early today so we can watch the Installation Mass of our New Archbishop!  I sure wish we could be there, but it just wasn’t possible.  I love that we will be able to watch it online.

I am creating…
a calm and peaceful home, or at least trying my best to do so.  This always seems, at least for me, to require “clean and cozy.”  Yesterday morning I mopped the floors and finished cleaning up from our Easter company and it was so nice to start the week with a clean home!  I sure miss that cleaning lady I had helping a couple hours every two weeks last year…  It wasn’t much, but it sure helped me stay caught up with the cleaning.

I am going…
to print out some of the recent blog posts referecing the boys’ Habemus Papam! Lego Creation including the following from the Wall Street Journal blog:

“At Easter, for instance, Vatican spokesman Greg Burke tweeted a photo of a Lego version of the new pontiff, Pope Francis, standing on the balcony of St. Peter’s in Rome the day he was elected (the event is typically known as Habemus Papam). The photo originated on the Shower of Roses blog in the U.S.

Mr. Burke’s tweet, sent on March 29, read “Habemus Lego” followed by a link to where the photo could be found.”

I am hoping…
that we can get back to finishing up our Papal Lap Books soon!

I am praying…

:: the Divine Mercy Novena.

:: for Jennifer.

:: for Kerry, who lost her husband this past week.

I am reading…
lots of new books with the children!  Thank you to all those who have been clicking and purchasing though my Amazon links!! Wow!  I hope you all enjoy the books, and I am very appreciative of the 7-8% commission I usually receive from Amazon on your orders!  It’s just one more way in which God has been providing for our family and I am so very thankful.

I did have to substitute a different book for Rascal since Bank Robbery! is temporarily out of stock, but at Linda’s suggestion I ordered Shadow in the Dark, the first in the Chronicles of Xan series.  It was the first book Rascal decided to read and he has been enjoying it immensely.  I’ve already ordered the remaining two books in the series, The Haunted Cathedral and The Fire of Eden, to slip in his Christmas stocking.

Pondering these words…
from the Cure of Ars’ Easter Sunday sermon, Pascal Joys:

We have heard that we have every reason to rejoice from the bottom of our hearts on this memorable day, and to approach our Risen Redeemer with joyous Alleluias. But this is not all, we must be active also, and make a practical use of to-day’s celebration. Christ died for us, and He has given us an example that we should tread in His footsteps. As Christ is risen, so shall we arise and enter upon a new life. I call upon you, therefor, Christian parents, in the words of the Apostle: “Arise, and walk in the way in which thou shouldst go.” You promised one another before God’s holy altar mutual fidelity and help, that you would bear one another’s burdens in peace, and that you would bring up your children in the fear of the Lord. How have you kept this promise? Is the throne of harmony erected in your home, and dispensing blessings upon you? Are you a good father and mother to your children, do you feed the flock confided to you in green pastures, and do you lead them, as a good shepherd should, to the source of living waters? Or are you, fathers, bad examples to your sons and you, mothers, unnatural mothers to your daughters? Arise and from your spiritual death, fortify anew the throne of peace, approach the Altar of God and renew your conjugal vows. Bring up your children as good Catholic parents should do, assist the teachers and those who have charge of their spiritual welfare in this difficult task, then, and then only, will you have a happy Easter; then Easter joys and Easter blessings will gladden you and your family.

I am listening…
to the Glorious Mysteries Reflections on my Women in Chant: Recordare CD.

Around the house…
signs and symbols of Easter, everywhere!

One of my favorite things…
Golden Eggs!  Does your family have a tradition of hiding a golden egg?  This is one of my favorite childhood Easter memories, linked to my Grandma (Dad’s mom)… I remember how much she loved building up our excitement before we all ran off to search for eggs and that highly sought after “Golden Egg!”   It was always filled with money, coins, candy, and a few religious items (sometimes medals, holy cards, rosary, etc).   My grandmother passed away 23 years ago (very quickly due to cancer, shortly after being sentenced to 3 months of jail time, on Good Friday by a “Catholic” judge, for sitting in front of an abortion clinic, before serving that time) when she was only 61 and I was 12, but her and I were very close during my childhood.  Of course, I’ve always included a golden egg in our egg hunts, but couldn’t wait for the kids to discover the new one I found last year and have been saving!   When I showed it to my Aunt Bridget yesterday before the hunt, she said “Grandma would freak out over that egg!”  Which I already knew, of course, and put a huge smile on my face!  Isn’t it perfect?!

This week’s plans…

Monday :: Belated Birthday Date/Dinner Out

Tuesday :: Tutor for Snuggles and Chiquita from 9-11
Wednesday :: Orthodontic Appointments
Thursday :: Tutor from 12-5
Friday :: Mass and Grocery Shopping
Saturday :: 3rd Birthday Party for my sweet little niece
Sunday :: Mass

I kept telling myself that “life will calm down after Easter!”  I filled in my calendar yesterday and April fools on me… This week is our final week of quarter three (work samples due), next Saturday is my niece’s birthday party, the following weekend is our Mother/Daughter Tea Party, and the weekend after that is Chiquita’s 8th birthday (Saturday) and we are also hosting the Latin Mass (Sunday – which was rescheduled from the following weekend) – in the meantime I still need to finish entering last year’s receipts and finish/file our tax return, sign papers on our home refinance, take the kids to a couple ortho and doctor appts, and who knows what else I’m forgetting… I think I need a nap…

A little peek at my day…
Playing with the little ones on Easter Sunday.  I’ll try and post more pictures from Easter soon!

Note:  I went from having “only” 100 emails waiting in my inbox for responses, to well over 200 now… I’m once again very behind.  If you asked me something urgent, please send me a reminder, otherwise I will work on responding as time allows.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
